Sorry to say, but everything went wrong when we ate there: friendly, but unattently staff you had to guess whether you could take a seat or not), waiting times were long, food was traditional =uninspiring) the steak was too well-done and came to a surprise with cheese, ham and a baked egg. Bah! Still we were curuous why so many Portuguese wanted to wait half an hour or more to eat in there...
This is a typical, local Portuguese family style resaurant with no airs and graces. Food is piled high and sold cheaply and served with little finesse. I think it caters rather more for the locals who seem to know the names of the enormous piles of food that arrived on their tables. We had sardines which took an age to arrive but were tasty. I would not eat the bread served in a basket as we could see the waitresses emptying uneaten bread back into the bread sack and then scooping out a basket for the next customer. Little English is spoken. All in all it was quite an experience, the sardines were well cooked and tasty but I probably would not revisit were I to be in the area again!
We found this restaurant close to our hotel (Axis Vermar) on the recommendation of our tour guide. Excellent atmosphere and food. Typical Portugese small family restaurant. Good choice of meals. Mainly local people including the whole of the Povoa football team one evening. Prices very reasonable four of us had two courses each, bottled water and a good local wine for 45 euros
Buena terraza cerca del paseo, servicio rápido y personal agradable, arroz tamboril, para comer y salir del paso es aceptable.con niños es buena opción para comer tranquilo
