Draught Burger
Description
Brasserie 292 delivers an upscale French‑bistro experience in Poughkeepsie, blending chef‑driven fare—fresh oysters, lobster, octopus, foie gras, steaks, duck, and seasonal pastas—with standout craft cocktails and a lively fireside bar. Attentive service, thoughtful plating, and surprisingly reasonable prices make it ideal for date nights and special occasions; reservations are advised. Ample Main Street parking and a tucked‑away location add to the charm. Note: menu skews rich rather than light, and dress code enforcement is relaxed.

A one-of-a-kind restaurant with incredible food! I visited for dinner and started with some bread, followed by oysters served with fresh horseradish and sauce. Next, we tried the escargot, and everything was absolutely delicious! For my main course, I had duck breast, and the portion size was just right. I still had room for dessert and a cappuccino. I highly recommend making a reservation, as we went at 8 PM and the restaurant was packed! The overall atmosphere was wonderful as well, and our server was fantastic!
The food is absolutely delicious. We truly enjoyed the foie gras, ribeye steak, duck confit, and steak au poivre. Given the quality of the dishes, the prices are surprisingly reasonable. Just think about how much a 20oz ribeye would cost you in NYC—$48 here is an excellent deal. And, on top of that, it's incredibly tasty!
We visited Brasserie 292 for Mother's Day, and I encourage you not to be put off by its location—this place is truly a hidden gem. There was ample parking available on Main Street, and if you drive around the block, there's also a parking lot behind the building. Once you step inside, you're instantly transported to an upscale French bistro atmosphere. Each dish that arrived at our table was more delightful than the last, with each one being absolutely delicious right from the start! The cocktails were just as impressive, and the "fireside chat" was a standout favorite of the evening. Every appetizer looked and smelled amazing as it was served to the tables around us. We especially loved the fresh and fried oysters, the octopus, and the escargot. Our dinner was a feast that included steak frites, mussels, and fresh pasta dishes. I know I’ll be dreaming about the pot de crème for weeks until I visit again. The owners, chef, and kitchen staff clearly put a lot of thought and care into creating this exceptional dining experience. We highly recommend it!
I highly recommend the bar. The cocktails and drink selection are excellent. The food is great as well, with daily specials that feature local, seasonal, and high-quality ingredients. My only critique is that there isn't much in the way of lighter options; most dishes tend to be heavier and savory. Depending on your mood, though, that could be a positive!
