Was Anonym at Samosa Garden a mag?
If you're looking for a quick and affordable takeout option, I highly recommend trying the samosas. Make sure to ask for the tamarind chutney to go with them—it really complements the flavors. The okra is tasty as well. However, the true highlight for me is definitely the jilabis! These are delightful, golden, sugary treats that are crispy on the outside and wonderfully gooey on the inside. Additionally, they offer a... View all feedback.
What Anonym dislikes about Samosa Garden:
The food was outstanding, but I encountered a problem with the pricing. They included an automatic tip of $4 on a $6 order and $5 on a $7 order. In the end, I spent a total of $13, but I was charged $22. Altering signed receipts is illegal, and I hope they put an end to this practice, as it casts a negative light on all communities. The food was fantastic, but I had a frustrating experience with the staff. They pressured me to leave a $4 tip on a $6 bill, and a $5 tip on a $7 bill. I ended up spending $13, but they claimed it cost $22. Altering signed receipts is illegal, and I hope they discontinue this type of behavior. It reflects poorly on everyone in the community.
If you're looking for a quick and affordable meal, I highly recommend the Samosas—make sure to ask for the Tamarind Chutney to go with them. The Okra is also quite tasty. However, my favorite dish here is the Jilabis! These are pure golden, heavenly sweet treats that have a satisfying crunch on the outside and a gooey center inside. They also offer a wide variety of dough balls in different flavors.
I visited Samosa Garden for lunch/dinner on a Sunday afternoon, June 5, 2022, at around 2:40 PM. Since I wanted enough food to last me through the day, I planned my order accordingly. The interior of the restaurant is simple and unpretentious, featuring a few tables and stands. However, due to occupancy restrictions in 2022, there was only one table available inside. Fortunately, I had the place to myself, which allowed me to enjoy my meal while it was hot and fresh. Now, let's talk about the food. One of the most remarkable things about Samosa Garden is that their prices have remained unchanged throughout the years! To give you an idea, here's a breakdown of their most popular entrees: - #1 Meal (daily special, dal, rice, roti or puri) - $3.99 - #2 Meal (daily special, dal, rice, yogurt, aloo tikki, roti or puri) - $4.99 - #3 Meal (chicken curry, vegetables of the day, rice or puri) - $5.99 With these incredible prices, you can satisfy your craving for Indian food for under ten dollars! I went for the #2 meal, which included Baingan Bharta (spicy mashed eggplant), dal (yellow lentils with tomatoes and spices), Indian white rice, yogurt (curd or dahi), aloo tikki (spiced mashed potatoes), and roti (whole wheat bread). I added a samosa—fried pastries filled with seasoned potatoes, onions, and peas—served with sweet and tangy sauce and spicy cilantro chutney. To wash it all down, I grabbed a 12 oz soda. After tax, my total was an astonishingly low $9 for everything. My samosa arrived in just 2 minutes, and my main meal was ready in 7 minutes. Everything was fresh and aromatic. The scent of the curry might be overwhelming for some, but I absolutely love it, as I enjoy curry dishes from various cuisines. The eggplant was perfectly seasoned, and the dal had a creamy, soup-like consistency. I particularly loved the aloo tikki; they were so delicious that I couldn't stop eating them. But the standout item was undoubtedly the samosa. The crispy exterior perfectly encased a spicy potato filling mixed with peas and onions. With prices at just 85 cents each, it’s no wonder they're such a popular choice. Overall, Samosa Garden offers an affordable and excellent dining option that I highly recommend!
Today, while waiting in line, Google Maps reminded me that I visited Samosa Garden five years ago to pick up an order of samosas for a work event. This time, I ordered a samosa tikki chaat, and it was just as delicious as I remembered! The sholay were packed with flavor and perfectly cooked, while the samosas and tikki were seasoned just right. The prices here are outstanding, significantly more affordable than anywhere in the Bay Area. The woman at the counter was friendly, and I received my chaat in no time. I'll definitely be back for a snack, if not a meal, the next time I’m in the area.
I visited for lunch yesterday and discovered some fantastic budget-friendly options. Although I've come across several negative reviews regarding customer service, I personally had a positive experience. I was warmly attended to by a lovely young woman who was truly charming. I will definitely return for the delicious food and perhaps to enjoy more pleasant interactions!
