However, my recent experience with the Capellini with Basil and Tomatoes was disappointing. While the angel hair pasta was of good quality and cooked properly, it was overwhelming covered in butter—yet not the kind infused with garlic that one would expect. When I asked the waitress about it, she assured me they use fresh garlic. However, it was absent from the noodles and bread. Instead, I was served two cups of excessively buttery pasta with just two tablespoons of red sauce that lacked garlic, had barely perceptible basil, and contained canned stewed tomatoes that tasted burnt. I was also left wondering where the Parmesan was; it certainly wasn't sautéed in butter, it was simply drowned.
During our visit to town, I was reminded of this restaurant from years past. Unfortunately, the decor is now worn and in need of updating. Our meal took longer than anticipated, and my eggs cooked over medium were served with runny whites. While the staff was helpful, the experience didn't match my fond memories.
I've visited this restaurant several times for breakfast, and I've always been pleased with the meals. The breakfasts are consistently good. However, dinner can be hit or miss depending on the cooks and wait staff. Sometimes the food is hot and delicious, while other times I'm tempted to walk out due to poor service or quality. This place has been in Orland for quite a while, attracting customers thanks to its convenient location off Highway 5, both north and southbound. The decor is typical, and there's a spacious parking lot in front of the restaurant. It's also handicap accessible and has a casual atmosphere.
