Was User at Historic Rivermill a mag?
Ok the meals are not cheap but they are of good size and quality. Kids can pay and feed animals. That is worth the trip. Great relaxed atmosphere and worth the visit View all feedback.

What User dislikes about Historic Rivermill:
Bad food, bad service and a very stale feel to the cafe. They do have many many turtles in the lake though but they all rush over to you like they're starving so it doesnt make you feel that good either. View all feedback.

Don't ever go here. My wife and I have many times stopped here for a coffee and cake. We have always found the staff polite and good service in a beautiful surroundings. That all changed today. It was the first day of our holidays and decided to go for a drive and a bite to eat and decided to stop at the River Mill Cafe. To our surprise there was a sign saying closed on Monday. While I waited in the car my wife went in to the Cafe to ask why as there was a bus load of tourists there. She was told by the helpful staff that they weren't open to the public but would do us a Coffee and scone. While enjoying our morning tea this "GENTLEMAN" came and stood at our table and said we should not be there to which I said sorry but we were told it was OK. He then accused us of "sneaking" into a private function to which again I said I did not sneak but was told it was OK. Again he said we should not be there and accused me a second time of sneaking because we got in without him seeing us and the girls on the counter made his job hard and said enjoy your scone. I have never been made to feel more unwelcome in a place as this "GENTLEMAN" did. I have recommended this place to many people but this has well and truly changed my mind. Thank you to the lovely staff on in the Cafe but this one employee/"GENTLEMAN " needs to learn some manners. I will never go back again.

This is a potentially great spot for a family event - or just for the many tourists driving through. The lake full of turtles and ducks is a real magnet for kids. Grounds are OK, but the animal cage area with Llamas, pig and goats is a bit basic. The museum are is potentially interesting, but has suffered with lack of maintenance over recent years. The toilets are old and grubby. Menu is OK, and coffee is OK too. We were disappointed that there weren't enough high chairs for all the customers early on a sunday morning. A kid next to us fell off his full size chair as a result. Not all the staff are Chinese, but I can't help feel this place is just set up to cater for bus loads of Chinese tourists, who won't be back again. Pity.

Beautiful location and a nice stop for lunch when visiting the hinterland. There are a couple of vegan options to choose from. I had the mushroom breakfast dish, which was okay, but a bit pricey for what it was at $20. Wonderful to feed the turtles and llamas and a great place for the kids or kids at heart Will definitely return for the overall experience!

Great atmosphere alfresco dining out back deck overlooking stream full of Turtles. We could see the kids having lots of fun hand feeding them. Other animals to keep them entertained, are Llamas, chooks an extremely large Pig . Good selection of drinks licensed) a good Coffee Cake deal for $10. Seniors meals were good value at around $12, with the fish chips a good choice. I had the smoked salmon damper from the main menu)at $21 , which I found a bit dissapointing . Small salad with some smoked Salmon a small piece of Damper). If you're not hungry, this could be a good meal for you ! Scones a little disappointing.
