High's - Monterey

Excellent restaurant in the middle of Highland County, Virginia 's Switzerland . I have eaten here a few times on trips to Spruce Knob area, most recently last October. Food is delicious. Service is excellent even though they are sometimes short-staffed, and Katrina did a wonderful job last time. The best part, though, is the ice cream, specifically the cookie sundae. Would highly recommend to anyone passing through this beautiful part of the country. Make sure you ring the bell on the way out! Parking: Parking is on the street, but you are as close to the middle of nowhere as you can get in the Mid-Atlantic, so it is never a problem
