Hidden along a bustling highway lies a truck stop that evokes nostalgia through its old-school charm. While its facilities show signs of neglect—dirty surroundings, empty windshield cleaning buckets, and restroom issues—the warmth of the staff shines through. Travelers appreciate the personal touch, reminiscent of a bygone era, offering a sense of community amidst modern convenience stores. Despite high fuel prices and a dilapidated exterior, the friendly service and the promise of a new establishment next door hint at a potential revival. For those seeking genuine hospitality, this spot may just be worth a visit, albeit with some patience.

Was Vett B Franklin at Big Country Truck Stop a mag?
I stopped to fill up on gas and pick up a few items before heading home after visiting family. The cashier let me know that I could get a discount on gas by entering my phone number, but unfortunately, the discount is not valid in the DFW area. View all feedback.
What Tim Lancaster dislikes about Big Country Truck Stop:
Another decent restaurant has closed down. The building has been torn down and now there is a larger store next door where the truck stop used to be, making it appear as if the truck stop never existed. View all feedback.

None of the windshield cleaning buckets were filled up. The staff mentioned that they will fill them up eventually. The fuel prices were expensive. The facility was extremely dirty and there were no paper towels in the men's restroom.

Facility is old and being demolished soon. Replacement is under construction next door. Looks to be bigger and better.
I look as I am, homeless. They were kind and gracious to me. I would definitely recommend stopping here for gas, snacks, and rest. It looks like a Mom and Pop kind of place and I guess it might be, but it has something that the more modern places don 't. It has heart. They care for the locals and the traveler as if they were all friends.
