Glisan's

Description

Once a beloved roadside classic known for big yeast rolls, hearty breakfasts, steaks and abundant pies, this diner still delivers nostalgic flavors at budget prices. Recent reports paint a split picture: some diners praise tender New York strip, desserts and friendly servers, while others report long waits, rude management, cold or burnt food and dirty, unreliable restrooms. New ownership is cited as a turning point — loyal patrons hope improvements restore the reliable, family‑friendly stop it once was.

After the order we waited and waited. On several occasions, the waitress told us that our order had arrived immediately. We waited. We waited for 1 hour and 10 minutes! In the meantime other customers arrived, were served and went! Another family who arrived shortly after us also waited approx. 45 minutes and then left. When I visited the manager, I was told he was out right away. He never appeared.

I’m quite selective when it comes to my steak, and the New York strip I ordered was exactly to my liking—lean and tender, simply melting in my mouth! (I prefer mine cooked medium well.) The dessert selection was abundant and delicious; we ended up taking home some fantastic pies and stuffed cookies. The dinner rolls were large, flavorful yeast rolls, just like they served many years ago. The service was prompt, and our waitress was friendly and accommodating. This is the Glisan’s I remember from years gone by, and I’m thrilled to see that it hasn’t changed a bit.

Thia place gets a -10. In my opion it the food is gross, the service is verry bad, and the adatude of the people who work there sucks. Had to give them all ones because I can not leave it blank.

The new owners are appreciative of the opportunity. It's not too late for a change. The current management seems to be driving it into the ground. We’re looking forward to seeing the improvements at what was once a favorite spot for our family.

If you dined at Glisans in the past, be prepared for a different experience now. I went there with a group of seven last autumn, and unfortunately, none of us enjoyed our meals. I had the buckwheat, which was very sour, and another dish included undercooked fish. The desserts, which used to be fantastic, were now lackluster—though the meringue was impressively high at about three inches, it lacked flavor. The most disheartening part was that the young chef, who looked about 18, came to our table to ask how the meal was. He genuinely seemed to believe he had prepared something great. Given that it was Friday at 6:00 PM and there were only three other diners, we should have anticipated the decline in quality. Overall, it was a very disappointing experience.
