I sampled several dishes during my visit, and while nothing was truly disappointing, the only item I would return for is the beef noodle soup. The stuffed fish balls were rather bland and didn't stand out. Additionally, the dumplings had an imbalance between the wrapper and the filling. It's great to enjoy some authentic Taiwanese cuisine and the handmade noodles were a nice touch, but the other dishes didn't quite meet my expectations. On the plus side, the service was quite good.

We took an impromptu road trip to Markham and found ourselves at First Markham Place. Mike was in the mood for some Taiwanese beef noodle soup, so we decided to stop by Mei Nung, which happens to be my godbrother's favorite spot. In fact, it’s the only place we’re familiar with in the Greater Toronto Area. Does anyone have any recommendations for other Taiwanese beef noodle places we should check out?

I dropped in one night for supper after remembering all the great reviews that I had read about their beef noodles. When I walked in the portable fan was on and I could smell this strong odor of soiled diapers!? Correction, it is their famous stinky tofu. It really wreaked havoc on my nose momentarily. They have soup based, mixed, and stir fried noodles on their menu. Typically, they are paired with beef, tripe or other beef tendon delicacies. My friend and I ordered their small Homestyle Beef noodles $7.45). The noodles had a nice firm texture and the beef with veggies complimented the soup. It was very tasty and unique. They also have dumplings and beef brisket you can order on the side. Better yet, I will order their stinky fried tofu next time!

When I walked into this place, I gagged. The smell is wretched and I thought someone had thrown up right inside the entrance. Don't worry about that though, because it's just stinky tofu. My girlfriend loves stinky tofu, but the last time she had it, it was so bad that I might have broken up with her had I been more shallow.<br/ <br/ Despite that opening, I actually loved the beef noodle soup here. It was just a small hot bowl of love. I ordered the small because I wasn't too hungry, but even the small was a fairly large size (I wonder what the large would have looked like). The broth is what separates it from most places. It's just got this wonderful aroma and was just salty enough. The beef brisket was wonderfully tender and soaks in all that broth. And speaking of soaking, those noodles are just...man, I just wish I had them at home because they would be good in anything. <br/ <br/ The place is tiny but turnaround is quick because the meals are simple and fast. The service here is real friendly, which made me like the place that much more. If you're looking for a quick simple lunch, this is definitely the place to go.
