The Thatch - Lowestoft

The restaurant is in a great location, but the service and food were terrible. After waiting 45 minutes for 4 baguettes with my family, we received uncooked baguettes with old and inedible filling in one, and missing ingredients in the others. We ended up getting a refund because it was getting late and we needed to eat. When we asked to speak to a manager, we were told that no one was in charge. For a cafe restaurant in such a prime location, this was a really disappointing experience. It's a shame.

I'm not sure what has happened over the years. The cheese scones used to be the best, but now they are just some kind of dry cake. There is hardly any cheese in them and they are nearly inedible.

Unfortunately, our visit to this restaurant was disappointing. While some of the food, such as the full English breakfast and breakfast wrap, was excellent, the omelette was burnt and resembled a Yorkshire pudding, and the waffles were too hard to even cut, let alone eat. We did express our concerns at the time, but aside from being told that the chef would be notified, not much was done to address the issue. Paying £9 for the omelette felt like a waste of money. In addition, the service was slow when it came to clearing tables, and we even had seagulls swoop in to eat the leftover food as we left.

One of the best places which has the best hunters chicken in the town. To top it, the view of the open sea is breathtaking. The portion of the food is really good. It took a while for the order to be prepared but it was totally worth it. It looked fresh and well cooked the taste was amazing. They also have mini golf which can keep everyone occupied. Would definitely recommend it.

Visited as group of 10 cyclists having reserved tables. They were quite busy and service was a bit slow as only one person serving at the time. Good selection of cakes and scones etc, all very tasty. Recently decorated inside, now looks very fresh and modern, impressed .
