Traditional Portuguese food. No English spoken, and we were the only tourists there. Had fun translating the menu and had a tasty beef/potato stew. Good price, good service.
The restaurant was highly recommended to my by a close friend who raved about its grilled dourado fish whichI happen to love. Service: we arrived around 8:30pm and it was relatively quiet with about 2 tables of a small group of diners. Staff response seemed really slow until I realized there was only one person hosting/seating along with order and payment management. Within a few minutes the tables quickly filled up, still with one server on a busy Friday night who efficiently dispatched his various duties. Meal:we ordered a bottle of red wine which was both dry and sweet which met our needs. We received a small dish of black olives and the hearty Portuguese bread to start our meal. We both wanted the dourado entree BUT only one fish remained and my date graciously ordered another type of whitefish for himself. Both were char grilled with this wonderful sea salt and each entree contained 2 whole fishes, a very generous serving which I could not finish. It was good however I’ve had better moist, delicately grilled fish elsewhere. The fish was accompanied by green beans and the usual boiled potatoes, I wish they seasoned the potatoes while cooking to infuse it with flavor but that’s not the traditional Portuguese way. so no use in upsetting the apple cart. Price: affordable with generous servings Would I return: probably not.
Very nice, authentic and cozy. Unpretentiously good food and terrifically helpful staff. Recommended.
