Food was disappointingly salty (salad and chips too salty to eat) and service charming but chaotic. Our neighbours waited an hour and a half but our food came quickly so perhaps they got here too early.

By far the best restaurant in Lisbon. Very quant little place and the owner cooks, serves, and entertains. Such a lovely lady who spent time with us at our table. She does not speak english, and we did not speak portuguese. Challenging but fun. The food was excellent and the wine very good. Prices were inexpensive. I was traveling with three others and this was definitely our top place for a good home cooked meal, from a very special lady.

Let start with the downsides of Lanterna Verde : there are just three tables outdoor, then it 's full (but is it a real downside? maybe not : . The lady doesn 't speak any other language than portuguese (but you and her will surely find a way to communicate . You 've to accept a significant delay in getting served your food (up to an hour ... but we had worse experience in much more high level restaurants : , remind that you 're vacationing so take it easy. Then, the pluses: the lady is lovely, food is great, very well cooked and tasty, both fish and meat, price is a bargain. Well, in a congestioned Lisbon by the increased tourism of the last years, this is a gem if you accept all of the above. Hope this review will help other travellers, keeping at the same time the genuine experience you can live in this restaurant, taking good care of the lovely lady.

Not normally one to leave a review, but loved my meal at Laterna Verde. Everyone was very friendly and welcoming (and spoke great English), delicious food at reasonable prices- and absolutely adored the chocolate mousse. Great meal out if you want an authentic Lisbon experience.

We happened across this place one night and it was so great. If you want authentic, no frills, really good, home cooked Portuguese food, this is one of the best. There was one older lady doing all of the waiting tables and COOKING. She made the best grilled dorado I have ever had seasoned perfectly, a little lemon, something savory I can't name. We ate very well in Portugal, but this was a contender for top 2 meals. Go!
