La Carte Tapas Wine - Braga

To be honest we almost left when we arrived, as the restaurant is in a really odd place to start with and was no one inside just before 14h on a Sunday! The restaurant itself needs work but is welcoming enough. The staff was really nice and made us feel welcome and went beyond to answer all our questions. The service was quick and the food absolutely delicious. We enjoyed every bit of the meal from starter to pudding. We definetly recommend this place as the menu is well thought and we will definitely return to try other dishes.

A quick TA search and we came across this restaurant and as it was only 2km from the hotel we thought we’d give it a try. On turning up we originally thought we were in the wrong place as we were dropped at a housing estate. The restaurant is above a precinct, up a stair case and it really did not look inviting at all so we nearly turned back. We were so glad we didn’t! The staff were very hospitable, the food was very good quality. We ordered 3 large G&Ts and a larger beer. We shared 6 plates of tapas and the cost was only €53 total. The chef even gave us a dessert to try. It’s not a luxury place and there are only around 12 tables but if you’d like small plates of food to share of good quality in a friendly and calm environment give this a try!

This restaurant is pretty unique for Braga as it tries to serve local dishes with a special touch, all at very economical prices. For example, when serving the traditional alheira sausage, it is served on sliced apples alongside a very tasty sauce. As main dish we had low cooked veal main dish costing merely 8 euros. Extremely delicious. The chef clearly has the audacity to try something new and it works. The food here is simply excellent and from our point of view one of the best in Braga. We have been here twice with a young child and the service has been very attentive and considerate. The restaurant is only a 10 minute walk away from the central fountain in Braga, but the neighbourhood where it is located is not the best of Braga having a lot of deserted sites nearby. Note that the restaurant is located above street level in the corner. It is hard to notice from street level.

Both the food and the price were excellent. Nothing else can be said.

The chefs are excellent. The food is just perfect in every way, the house wine was an excellent surprise. And everything for a reasonable price. Great dinner, no doubt
