Dimassi's Mediterranean Buffet - Katy
Dimassi's Mediterranean Buffet
Description
This restaurant presents a dual narrative: while some patrons rave about its extensive buffet featuring fresh, flavorful Mediterranean dishes and abundant vegan options—including falafel, chickpea salad, and lentil soup—others recount troubling service issues. Complaints highlight unprofessional staff behavior and food served at improper temperatures, casting a shadow over the dining experience. Despite the cozy atmosphere and delectable offerings like chicken kabobs and delightful desserts, inconsistencies in service and food quality loom large. Ultimately, guests find themselves divided, with a lingering hope for service improvements matched by a love for the food.

I would give this place a 5-star rating if the app allowed it. Even though it's not a vegan restaurant, the team at Chickpea will love it. They offer three kinds of hummus, falafels, and chickpea salad, as well as a variety of raw vegan salads. The lentil soup and potatoes are also delicious. I love this place and am grateful for the nourishment it provides.
I am not one to leave reviews often, but I feel compelled to share my experience at this restaurant. The customer service was very unprofessional and lacked quality. I have known the current owner since 2012-13 when she worked at another location, and was excited to find her again here. Unfortunately, my recent visits were disappointing as the owners, a husband and wife duo, were disrespectful and rude. This is a buffet restaurant where you pay almost $25 per person for all-you-can-eat. On my first visit with six guests, I asked for lamb shanks, which is the main reason I go there. To my surprise, the owner suddenly came and yelled at us, saying we would be charged an additional $10 because there was a 2-year-old with us who ate some of the food. On another visit with two guests, I asked for three lamb shanks but was only given two with the husband saying he would watch us and bring more if needed. It felt cheap and unprofessional. They seemed to be fixated on the lamb shanks, constantly keeping an eye on our table. The service was disappointing and I do not plan on returning. It is disheartening to see their behavior, especially knowing the cost of a lamb shank is only $4 on average at Restaurant Depot.
I am impressed by the variety of fresh options at this restaurant! They offer cucumber salad, beet salad, and Tabouli. They also have delicious warm options like yummy soups, with my personal favorite being the chicken kabobs. I highly recommend trying their amazing buffet and be sure to save room for the rice pudding dessert and baklava.
