Testa's Bakery - HAVERTOWN
Testa's Bakery
Description
Testa’s in Havertown is a classic neighborhood bakery known for authentic Italian pastries—standout chocolate buttercream cake, light cheesecake, cannolis, cookies and affordable moist cakes. Fans praise its homemade flavors and party-ready portions, while the shop’s old‑school, slightly worn interior, strict two-person entry policy and limited open days can cause waits and frustrate same‑day cake orders. Despite occasional phone/order issues, reliable, giftable desserts and nearby parking keep customers coming back.

Finding a good bakery these days can be quite a challenge, but I’m so glad we stumbled upon this charming classic bakery. I really wish I had taken some pictures, but I was too busy savoring all the tempting treats on display. Everything was homemade, delicious, and made with care. There's street parking available, as well as a municipal parking lot nearby.
Wow! We stumbled upon this place by chance while looking for cannoli, wanting to avoid South Philly. I have to say, these were the best cannoli I've ever tasted. The filling was just the right level of sweetness and had a perfect texture. The cannoli shell was light and had a nice structure, not too heavy at all. It felt like the ideal cannoli recipe. We also picked up an apple cake at the end of our visit, and it was unbelievably good. Even after four days, it remained incredibly moist with perfectly balanced flavors and textures. Plus, the prices for the cakes are very reasonable. This place has quickly become a favorite of mine!
The chocolate buttercream cake I had was absolutely incredible! I bought two today along with some cannolis and cookies, and everything was delicious. This was my first time trying the cake, and it was a delightful sweet treat. I thought I would just have a small bite, but I found myself unable to stop! I’ll definitely be coming back for more. I even bought one for my neighbor, and I'm so excited that it made for such a wonderful gift! Thank you again!
If you are looking for a lack of attention or appreciation as a customer along with a potentially high priced old cake, this is the place for you! I needed a cake for a Wednesday only to find out the business is open only 4 days a week not including Mon Wed. I could buy a cake that sat for 3 days or buy one a day late on Thursday. On top of that the woman who was too busy to answer the phone finally answered and asked me to hold. When she returned, she did not want to take my order and prepare a fresh cake, she told me to pick out a cake from the refrigerator when I came into the business and she would pipe on the message as I waited. My questions are: 1. Why answer the phone if you are a bakery who will not take customers' orders? 2. What days of the week are fresh cakes available as you are certainly not preparing fresh cakes for Sundays? It is too bad this once great bakery may lose many customers due to their current business practices. Sadly, I will not be returning.
Omg.We randomly stopped pass because it was the nearest place for cannoli, as we didn’t want to drive to South Philly. I think that these were the best cannolis I have ever had. The filling was not too sweet and a great consistency. The cannoli shell was light and textured, not too dense. I felt like this must be the perfect recipe for cannoli. We added on an apple cake at the end of the purchase and it is ridiculously good. It’s been about four days and it is so moist with perfectly balanced flavors and textures. The cakes are super affordable as well. This place is an instant favorite.
