Was Arthur Garnier at Da Donato a mag?
The wine and food was good, the service was even better! It felt like we were in Italy, we reserved a table but had to wait for 20 minutes, so we got free prosecco for waiting. View all feedback.

What Petrína Karels dislikes about Da Donato:
This wanna-be Italian restaurant probably has some of the rudest staff around. Talking down to you and being absolutely non-inviting. Their pizzas are tasteless and the tomatosauce made them sloppy. The interior design is good towards the window, but in the back of the restaurant...it is a terrible 80s style, that definitely doesn’t ooze Italy. Don’t go here!! View all feedback.

Here I am back in hamburg and look forward to eating good Italian as in italien. I got 2 dishes, a tomato mozzarella dish, nice, but not wow. as the main course I got a derecote steak - meat was tender, but sponge in too much soße on the teller action in the kitchen. a thing that I noticed and could not get into danger with most ears and bubbly. When I watched the cook when eating, I noticed that he was eating with the fingers and not with the cute. at a court I noticed at least 5-6 times that he put his finger in the food and tasted. he wore rubber gloves all the time and I wondered about the purpose of this - why not use them to taste? I have seen the cook even in a salad break, also with gloves. when I prepare food for family and guests, I always use utensils to taste food, and I only use the utensils once - for a professional chef I would have expected that. by the way - I have never seen how the cook once washed the hands. the last service was good:)

The Italian mama of the house greeted us in Italian, when we entered the restaurant in the late evening, and that we tried to speak both German and English with it, it did not seem to disturb at all. fortunately we got help from her son, and we ordered for each one of us something bruschetta and a pizza, but the son told us that we could not eat all a pizza. we followed his advice and ordered only one, and he certainly was right. after various delicious bruschettas he brought us a huge perfectly baked pizza with sharp salami, champignons, cheese and rucolla, and although we gave our best, we had to leave something of it. we drank a beautiful montepulciano to eat ours and the bill was really reasonable. we felt welcome all the time and were treated like regulars. the next Hamburg visit we will be back.

After a decent experience in the last year again called with the family and family of the sisters to donato and it turned out that it was quite consistent. but also everything acceptable. sitting outside on a lukewarm summer evening is hardly despicable and the outside area of the donato along the colonnades is very appealing, especially if you want to observe the world and the people. the tables and chairs were nothing special. the service was in order, but also nothing special, which has probably led to the acceptable number of points. the donato does not have to be set quieter when passing.
