Not a five star hel but a five star refugio located in a great location on the shore of Lago Mizerin. The rooms are very crowded with six sets of bunks too close together making it difficult to access your pack. Beds were comfortable enough but they were not very stable and squeezed considerable whenever the occupant moved and only the bottom bunks were occupied. As with all Refugio, earplugs are a necessity. Fixed menu Evening meal was excellent, especially when considering the location but the breakfast as very basic. Staff were friendly, the only complaint being they smoked right outside the door making sitting on the beautiful deck uncomfortable.
Hard work but with amazing views. I rate this place excellent because given the location the service and quality available here is amazing!! My nephew who is 11 managed to cycle and walk it so i would rate the trip here a 6/10 on difficulty of access. You have some steep rough climbs , where we pushed out mtbikes, easily done if hiking, if you have/hire a electric bike it can be easily done! you can rent them at the town of Champorcher at the start of the access road than you can charge them at the rifugio Dondena and also at the rifugio Miserin at the top near the lake. (but thats not true MTB! In both rifugio you will find very friendly ppl serving good local food, ales, cakes and hot beverages. Both places offer overnight stay, dinner lunch or bkfast. They all take card payments. Internet phone coverage over the trail is pretty good beside few dark spots
