The food was OK. Service poor, the bottle of wine we ordered didn't arrive until our main course, meaning we had nothing to eat or drink for 20 mins. When our plates were cleared, we said we would like to see the dessert menu, but nobody came. After another long wait, we gave up and left.
Really good Tarte flambée and kind staff. They only speak french so be aware of that. Good wine as well.
Restaurant Edel is a true family run restaurant, established by Adolph Edel in 1895 it is now owned by his grandson Adrien Edel whose son is the chef. We love places like this that have so much tradition and history, like them even better if the food and service are good...tick those boxes. Situated in the most beautiful square in town it is a great place to watch the world go by... and a a great view of the nesting storks....and we did...often. The food is of the region and varied, superb onion tart, tart flambe’, Knuckle of pork...you can snack or have a full blown meal...portions are generous and desserts are to die for. Next door is the Boucherie and charcuterie selling produce, pies quiches, meat etc also run by the family. Wines of the region are a very reasonable 21€ a bottle. Eguisheim is one if the most beautiful villages in France, restaurant Edel is a beautiful building in the square, it doesn’t get any better. A big thank you to Lucy, her family and the staff for making us so welcome, we had great time...we’ll be back next year.
We waited for a while but the two waitresses were more interested in chatting than n taking our order, so we left.
