Bonnie C's Cafe - Slidell

I entered through the side door by the bar. I stood there for 8 minutes before anyone asked me if I needed any assistance. Although my back was to the dining area, I watched 2 waitresses, in a mirror on the bar wall, look at me twice. Neither of those women asked me if I needed assistance. I had to ask if there were any specials. I placed my order and went home, I ordered a white beans meal and pasta jambalaya meal. The white beans were good but salty. They had a nice flavor, but the bean to rice ratio was completely off. It was as if I were eating bean soup. I was a bit disappointed with you with the jambalaya pasta. The flavor is fine, but I DO NOT like spaghetti noodles for this dish. It's a cute diner/cafe. I don't want you to think that I disliked it and won't return. I'll give it another try. There were quite a few people in there; it just wasn't busy. By the time I arrived, everyone had their food already. I did notice how great the customer service was with the people who were dining in, I just didn't receive that same enthusiasm. I'll try it again at a later date and update my post.

Good variety of dishes. Try the daily specials also. Home-cooked taste.

Fried eggplant was good, sweet potato fries..good, shrimp were fresh and very good, baked Mac was pretty good.....fried fish....hard pass....tasted like frozen white fish this area is LOADED with fresh wild caught catfish, disappointing that not many restaurants have it. This fish was rubbery and had a fishy smell to it. 5 stars if it were fresh local catfish! Nice little place, affordable and friendly.....just don 't get the fish.

All the staff are great. I go for the Gumbo and to joke with the waitress. All the food is really good. Thank you for being open on a cold day and 2 other local places were closed.

Stop by this place last year and forgot to leave a review. Was telling a friend about that Deep South Gold and had to post. 2 chicken breast with seafood stuffing. Mercy! This was so dang on good!
