A warm welcome an amazing, delicious and very well presented meal. A very good quality price ratio than ask for more? Thanks to the cooks who have enjoyed us and the waitress for the welcome and soon with pleasure for a new experience View all feedback.
Wandering the streets of the Dijon I needed some lunch and Betterave was there! I walked into a first Sunday of the month brunch tradition that was an excellent experience. The food, service and drinks were first rate and I was well cared for. Afterwards I realised this was a vegetarian restaurant. It was a memorable event and I now have to wait until I get back for more!
Betterave was very close to our lodging in Dijon, and we came upon it looking for a place to lunch on a rainy day in late September. We had no idea how lucky we were to get a table for 4 at the last minute, and found ourselves having a great meal in the cozy restaurant. Everyone is very kind and attentive, and it is a joy to be able to see Chef Hugo preparing the dishes. However, nothing can prepare you, whether you know ahead of time, or like us, you just come in off the street, for the incredible deliciousness of the meal. Let the critics go on about how the food is from local sources, the dishes are vegetarian, and the kitchen minimizes waste go with or without expectations this is a meal you will remember. Each course presents lovely and creative combinations of textures, flavors, and colors presented in beautiful dishes. For us, it was not only the best meal of our visit, it remains one of the best meals we have ever had.
Came here for lunch. Typical gourmand cousine without a menu. Creative cooking with local and seasonal ingredients, fair price and nice service. Probably worthy to be in a Michelin guide. I wish I had more places like this back home !
Flavourful seasonal food that is both classical and creative. The restaurant is impeccably designed and each table feels very private despite being in an open setting. Walking in, you feel assured about the quality of the menu and service, neither of which disappoint. The lunch menu is very affordable for what feels like a special meal €35 for entrée, plat, dessert). Our waitress was friendly and attentive, providing excellent advice on wine pairing. Definitely recommended if visiting Dijon for a refined but unfussy meal.
We had high expectations given the many 5 star reviews, but must report that the food fell well short of 5 stars. For entrees, I had roasted chestnut soup and my wife had lentils. The lentils were very tastie with many layers of flavor, and was presented beautifully, 5-star. My soup was good, but the cream was placed by a heavy hand which overwhelmed the chestnuts and the lack of truffles was disappointing, though again, a nice presentation, 4-star. Wife 's plate was pappardelle with pumpkin cream sauce. The pasta was dry and barely warm, without much flavor, tasting neither of pumpkin, sage nor pecorino, 2-star. My plate was roasted chicken with a celeriac slaw. The chicken was indeed Sous vide, not roasted. If chef is serving sous vide chicken, it should be finished on a charcoal grill or at least a very hot pan. It wasn 't finished, was rubbery and tasteless, nearly inedible. The supreme sauce lacked richness and was less than supreme. Overall the chicken dish rated 2-star, saved from 1-star only by the celeriac slaw. Overall the presentation of the plates was beautifully accomplished, unfortunately the flavors didn 't match the pretty food. It 's not enjoyable to leave a review as poor as this one, but I believe it to be objective and fair.
