Second Home Kitchen - Denver
Second Home Kitchen
Description
Nestled within a hotel, this restaurant offers a vibrant atmosphere and a limited Sunday brunch menu that caters more to families than intimate conversations. While the food occasionally shines—particularly with appealing doughnut holes and well-received burgers—the overall dining experience is marred by inconsistencies. Service can be chaotic and disorganized, often leading to forgotten orders and lengthy waits. The prices reflect upscale dining, but many diners find the food underwhelming relative to the cost. For those seeking a lively brunch spot, this may suffice, but for a memorable meal, there are more enticing options in Denver.
Feedback
I was really looking forward to this place after hearing about its brunch for years. It was busy but not overly crowded, yet the service was quite poor. They completely forgot one person's order and partially missed mine. Getting coffee was nearly impossible, and even harder to get refills once we finally managed to get some. To top it off, they brought us someone else's order at the end of our meal. Overall, it was a disappointing experience.
This review is based on a Saturday brunch experience. The food was excellent in terms of taste, presentation, and value, especially considering the hotel’s type. The beverages, however, were not as good of a value but were still acceptable. The service started out strong, but as the restaurant filled up and the staff struggled to manage multiple stations, it noticeably declined. There was no manager present to oversee the operations, and the hostess seemed unsure about how to seat guests based on party sizes compared to those waiting. For instance, instead of seating us at an open two-top table, we were placed at a different table next to a large open area, where several larger parties could have been accommodated. As a guest, I shouldn't have to point this out, especially in such a venue. Additionally, the restaurant had an outdated menu posted for months, which is surprising given that I had visited once when that dish was no longer available. In summary, while the experience was good, it has the potential to be significantly better.
Within a hotel which was slightly weird. Food took a very long time, but when it came was delicious. Very chaotic atmosphere with tons of unruly kiddos running around and screaming- was hard to hear my husband from across the table. Kindly, they took some things off the check due to the long wait. I don't think we'd go back, unfortunately.
