What Myrtice Effertz doesn't like about La Molcajeteria:
We ate here a couple of weeks ago because I am in love with the Mexican molcajeteria. I keep a list of Mazatlan where I will order them and where I will not. This is definitely a restaurant where I will return for their molcajeteria....It was classic, delicious, and I was offered a range of spiciness for the broth. I chose medium and it was just right. It feels like a healthy dish to eat. We also ordered the guacamole and, oh, wow. It was fabulous. The toasted blue and yellow corn tortillas had enough char on them to make them crispy and flavorful. With the molcajeteria, those crispy with some softness blue and yellow corn tortillas appeared again. The restaurant was clean and colorful, and the music was on the classical side when we were there for lunch. We ride the buses and walk around town so parking was no issue for use. This is a modern family-owned restaurant that is trying so hard to make sure customers are happy. They are working hard to make it successful. Prices are very affordable and the choices are many. Service was excellent. I highly recommend this moderate, modern but Mexican restaurant. And beer! for served in a frosted mug!
Having traveled around Canada, USA, and Mexico, I would rate this restaurant as for Mexican food that I have ever been to. Everything from the freshly handmade tortillas, to the wonderful guacamole, cheese fundido, and the delicious main courses, are superb. There are so...many molcajeta dishes to choose from, and they are all so tasty. For those who don't know, molcajeta refers to the stone bowl. There is a DJ booth where records are played, and when the owner is present, he will allow to to choose the music from his LP collection. Some LPs are available for sale as well. I bought a few, and the owner played them for me before I took them home to Canada.
