We chanced onto this place as the place we planned to go to across the street was closed, contrary to published hours on Google Maps. A restaurant with two names: Mantarraya and La Piazza. It is a TRUE SEAFOOD RESTAURANT with a large, but very navigable, menu. Listings range from Raw and Cooked Ceviches, to casseroles, to soups, to battered and fried, to broiled, to rices of a variety of fish and shellfish . Seafood feast (very generous portions) at low prices. It’s a menu that is WORTHY FOR REPEAT VISITS. Some recommendations: Sopa Parihuela: a dish for big appetite. A large flavorful soup of a medley of shrimp, octopus, squid, clams, mussels, morsels of Corvina (sea bass), and a WHOLE crab! Served with plantain chips, pan grilled corn kernels and yams. Melloso de Mariscos: a delectable dish of Spanish achiote rice with sautéed mix of seafood topped with centerpiece of a large prawn! Served with fried plantains and fresh avocados. Arroz Marinero: a lovely traditional dish of creamed rice with sautéed mixed seafood and Criollita vegetables. It has centerpiece of a large prawn, and served with fresh avocado and fried crisp plantains. Ceviche Trilogia: a rather clever dish for a choice of rice and cooked 3-seafood ceviche, an Ecuadorian delight! Today the dish is creamed seafood rice in a ceviche of shrimp, clams and fish ; garnished with avocado. It’s a luncheon feast with the Ecuadorian Pilsener lager. Service is excellent.
