This summer, we’re looking for a Kitchen Assistant to join our fun and vibrant team from June 1st to September 5th, 2023. As a key player in our operation, you'll work alongside talented chefs, bringing gourmet casual cuisine to life. With pay at $15/hour plus tips (averaging $75/day), there’s plenty of opportunity to thrive in this remote yet rewarding environment. We're seeking a charismatic, energetic individual with an adventurous spirit who enjoys having fun both at work and in their off-time. In this dynamic position, you'll engage with customers, take orders, plate beautiful dishes, assist in food prep, bake, and keep our kitchen spick and span. It’s essential to have a flexible mindset as you navigate daily challenges in this remote setting. Living in Kennicott means you're surrounded by abundant outdoor activities, from hiking and ice climbing to fishing and community softball under the midnight sun every Friday night! Our small, tight-knit community of 200-250 summer residents welcomes thousands of tourists each year, ensuring a diverse and exciting atmosphere. At The Meatza Wagon, everything is made from scratch with pride and attention to detail. We believe in using local ingredients, and you’ll even lend a hand in tending our garden. Our chef/owner, Madz Volk, has a rich culinary background and a passion for quality food, dedicated to providing the best culinary experience possible to all our guests. While we don’t provide housing, we offer shift meals and assistance in finding camping accommodations so you can immerse yourself in this wild and adventurous area. This is a place where people from all walks of life come together, making it a truly unique experience that some call the best time of their lives. Absolutely amazing food! We got the Reubens on Tuesday and it was easily the best sandwich I've ever eaten! We also had the three little pigs a few days ago, it was so so good! Can you have a delicious sandwich and eat outdoors in the middle of an almost wilderness? Yes you can at Meatza food truck at the Kennecott mine site in Wrangell St. Elias. I had the Carnitas Tacos and my wife had the Meatball sandwich, both excellent. It 's all outdoor seating, with a roofed shelter available. Update: we went back next day, I had the same carnitas tacos, wife had the Chicken burrito special, and we got the fresh baked and still warm chocolate chip cookies. Delish! Just walk up, order, and eat other places nearby need reservations or not available unless you are a lodge guest. Reasonable prices, and great views of the glaciers and mountains surrounding this historic mining area in the middle of a very remote National Park. Vegetarian options: For a place that is named Meatza it 's surprising they do have some vegetarian selections. Kid friendliness: Chocolate chip cookies baked on site. The three pigs sandwich was to die for and exactly what I needed after a grueling 9 mile hike! The pasta salad was delicious: there was many cold drink options and a nice view. We even went back and got ice cream cups after our second hike . Fast, friendly service and delicious food. This place is not to be missed if you are in the area. Food: 5 Service: 5 Atmosphere: 5
