Troops Subs - Clifton
Troops Subs
Description
Tucked near a busy Clifton intersection, Troops is a no-frills sandwich gem: classic New Jersey subs with thinly sliced meats, chewy rolls, fresh toppings, and melt-friendly broiling — all at remarkably low prices. The food is consistently praised, but the cramped, dim interior, spotty hours, terse counter service and a rushed atmosphere limit dine-in appeal. Ideal for takeout, on-street parking and credit-card acceptance make ordering easy; expect authentic, wallet-friendly subs rather than polished dining or full menu variety.

Rockin' Subs, made the old-fashioned way. Everything is hand cut and hand prepared, and extremely generous portions. This is the place to go if you want a real New Jersey Sub, as people used to write at home!
Amazing Subs! When people think of New Jersey subs, they think of generous portions, thinly sliced meat, everything prepared, cut, and chopped by hand for the perfect sandwich. The kind of subs that people used to write home about. It's amazing to find this kind of old-fashioned attention to a great sandwich still being put forth in today's mass-produced world.
Great NJ sub shop. Very similar to Tastees (better than Tastees in my opinion). A little too heavy on the oil and vinegar, but can always opt to get that on the side. Highly recommended.
Maybe the best lunch spot in New Jersey. A half sub and a drink for under $10. High quality and they never skimp on the meats. This place is the real deal
This unassuming sub shop near the busy Clifton intersection offers on-street parking and is truly a hidden gem for locals. The small space lacks a proper dining area, but they focus on what really matters—the sandwiches! They serve delicious, fresh, thinly sliced cold cuts and hot hero sandwiches. The rolls are soft and chewy, topped with shaved onions, shredded lettuce, and nicely sized tomatoes, all drizzled with oil, vinegar, and seasonings. It’s simply perfection! I can’t decide what I appreciate more: the friendly service from the two guys behind the counter or the incredibly affordable prices. Seriously, you should check this little shop out, located just two doors down from Mr. Cupcake. You won’t regret it—thank me later!
