Description

This local pizzeria presents a juxtaposition of culinary highs and lows. While many patrons rave about its fresh ingredients, substantial portions, and authentic flavors reminiscent of Chicago-style pizza, others report severe inconsistencies in food quality and service. Issues like raw bacon leading to foodborne illness and difficulties in placing takeout orders mar the experience. Though the charming, historic ambiance and friendly staff leave a positive impression, concerns about hygiene and accessibility further complicate matters. Ultimately, while it has the potential to be an exceptional spot for pizza lovers, critical oversights are hindering its reputation.

The restaurant would be good if the sauce and crust were better. I couldn't take a bite without all the toppings sliding off, and I couldn't taste the sauce. However, the toppings tasted fresh.

We ordered a pizza and 5 breadsticks and ended up spending 56 dollars without including the tip. The pizza had a thin crust, but surprisingly, it was more like bread and lacked the usual chewy texture of pizza dough. Unfortunately, everyone who ate the pizza ended up feeling sick and had to visit the bathroom within an hour. It was later discovered that the bacon on the pizza was raw, which we suspect caused our illness. We had already consumed some pizza before noticing the issue, so we had to discard the entire meal, wasting 56 dollars. The unpleasant experience has deterred us from returning to this restaurant. It's important to note that this establishment only offers takeout, with no dine-in option available. As for vegetarian options, you can simply remove the cheese and meat from the pizza to make it suitable for vegetarians. The breadsticks are quite thick and can be a substantial meal on their own, accompanied by a small amount of marinara sauce. The pizza can also be customized to suit children's preferences. Unfortunately, the restaurant is not wheelchair accessible, as there is no ramp and the entrance door is narrow, making it difficult for a wheelchair to pass through. Additionally, there is a cooler/refrigerator near the entrance that obstructs the path, making it challenging for a wheelchair to navigate the space.

I am unsure how this restaurant is able to continue operating. Eighty percent of the time when you call, there is no answer. There have been occasions where they have hung up on me and multiple instances where they have failed to deliver. This restaurant used to be excellent, but now it is consistently disappointing in terms of service. Although the food is always good, it is not worth the frustration of trying to place an order.
