What a fun surprise to find a great steakhouse in Chiav... read more I'm a typical Western guy. In my youth I rode in a lot of rodeos and ate at a whole lot of steak houses. What a fun surprise to find a great steakhouse in Chiavari! Italy in general fumbles with beef, and even the highly touted Fiorentina steak here is almost always so-so. I think this happens because their first impulse is usually to cut away all the fat on a piece of meat before they cook it Anyway, things were different here, and I was allowed to hand-pick a fine local Chianina steak with nice marbling from the cooler display. I was stunned by the great taste of the chili I chose as my starter, quite pleased with the authentic cole-slaw side dish, and enamored of the cooked steak that arrived in front of me. The cheescake in a jar for desert was the best cheesecake I've had in a few years. Whee! My wife and I enjoyed the outdoor patio seating next to the vegetable garden, and every one of the staff we spoke with was friendly and welcoming. We will be back!
