Noroc, formerly Firebird, is a hidden gem in Sacramento that offers delicious traditional Russian cuisine. Despite its unassuming exterior, inside you will find a warm and welcoming atmosphere with friendly staff. The food is exceptional, with dishes like escalope pork chop, cabbage rolls, and cherry blinzes receiving high praise from diners. The Zama Soup and Polenta Fried Pork Meat were particularly outstanding. While the ambiance may be more family-friendly than romantic, the quality of the food makes it worth a visit. Don't miss out on this authentic Russian dining experience.
This restaurant is still here, however it has a new name: Noroc. It's pretty much the same (amazing). See my previous review for more details. I'll add new reviews to their new page.
They have reopened under a new name. People thought they were Russian but they are Romanian and Moldavian. Food gets better and better. The Cherry Blintzes are amazing. They also have a great Moldavian Wine. They are back with a new name but same great food and service!
I completely agree with the 1 star review below. I don't understand how people can give this place 5 stars, especially Russians. I have been to Russian restaurants in Philadelphia, NYC, San Diego and Walnut Creek and the food at Firebird is simply disgusting. The whole place is shabby and untidy: the couch we sat on was all ripped, the walls were all scratched up and the glass of the window of their display was broken. Yuck! Service: Dine in
My wife and I were pleasantly surprised by a Russian Restaurant in Sacramento, which rivals many Russian restaurants in London, SF, and NYC. The only thing(and minor) is the ambiance, which was family-friendly but not a spot for a romantic evening. The food was excellent with my whispering, we 'll be back. If they fancied it up, it might lose the family restaurant feel. It was great to be in a restaurant and be the only table not speaking Russian.
