Description

The Roman Camp is a timeless gem, originally established in 1625 as a hunting lodge for the illustrious Dukes of Perth. Transforming into a hotel and restaurant in 1939, it has been under the caring stewardship of Eric and Marion Brown for over 30 years. Nestled in the breathtaking landscapes of the Trossachs and Loch Lomond National Park, the hotel offers a serene retreat surrounded by nature's beauty. Located on the banks of the River Teith, it boasts a stunning 21-acre estate filled with gardens and woodland, while still being just a short walk from the charming village of CALLANDER. At The Roman Camp, guests can stay in one of our 15 en-suite bedrooms, each uniquely styled to provide comfort and character. The hotel features inviting main rooms, including a Drawing Room, Library, and a Dining Room, along with The Garden Bistro – the Potting Shed, where relaxation meets delicious dining. Our culinary offerings highlight Scotland's exceptional produce, from succulent lamb and beef to fresh venison and fish. In our award-winning dining rooms, you can indulge in a formal tasting menu that showcases the finest flavors of the region. Meanwhile, The Garden Bistro serves delightful, simply prepared meals in a picturesque setting. For those wanting to unwind, we have an extensive wine list and an impressive array of whiskies, perfect for enjoying after a day filled with outdoor adventures. Loved it! Hotel is stunning but an extra special mention for the Potting Shed, the staff were amazing and the Chef's very accommodating for Celiacs, nothing was too much trouble. Definitely recommend.

I had my little dog with me, so wasn't allowed anywhere within the hotel! Not very dog friendly after all! There was alot of thudding noises going on below my floor room, which I reported, but noise continued next day. Room a little shabby, although ensuite was fabulous. Beautiful grounds, even in winter. Had to have my breakfast in room, very well made and presented.
