Feedback
Reviews praise Flying Squirrel's friendly staff, tasty menu and standout desserts but note occasional long waits, order mix-ups and chilly areas.
We attended the race night on Sat 4th May and had a fantastic night. Everything was perfect, lots of fun and we will definitely attend the next one.
It was a race night and was so much fun, made better by the great atmosphere and friendly and helpful staff. The food was very well cooked and we all enjoyed what we had ordered. I had the carvery and it was lovely.
We frequently visit this pub. The food is consistently good and they offer a wide selection of drinks. The bar staff provide excellent service. We enjoy the variety of board games available and the addition of a pool table is great. The fact that the pub is dog friendly is also a bonus!
I tried the carvery at this restaurant and overall, it was very good. The gammon was a bit fatty, which was a disappointment, but the rest of the food was excellent. The staff were incredibly friendly and courteous, which really enhanced the dining experience. My only complaint was the long wait for bar service when ordering, but this was likely due to not enough staff on hand to handle the busy Sunday lunchtime rush. The staff that were there were working very hard. Keep up the good work!
I used the online ordering option from the menu. I had to wait for about 20 minutes for our drinks, which made me question if the website was working properly. I was a bit disappointed by the wait time. However, the non-alcoholic cocktail was very refreshing. The food was not piping hot but still very tasty. The staff seemed a bit confused about our order, as they didn't realize we had ordered two of the same drink instead of just one. We also had to ask for a side of fries as our server didn't bring them after serving the main dishes. We had to get another staff member to prompt our server. Despite these minor issues, I really enjoyed the generous slice of chocolate cake with custard, even though there was a skin on the custard. I would definitely go back for the cake. It might be best to order at the bar next time to avoid confusion. The dining area was a bit chilly, especially the toilets. The staff was friendly and professional overall, and we appreciated receiving our desserts quickly.

More information
Regulars often ask for the chocolate cake with custard — the custard sometimes develops a light skin, a sign many patrons take as proof of it being freshly made in-house rather than a pre-packaged dessert.
