I rarely rave about restaurants I've been to a lot of them. My recent trip to Spain unearthed a couple worth mentioning, including Rayfe. In a set away street in Benicarlo our expectations were not that great. Restaurant almost empty when we arrived for Sunday lunch about 1330. Our hosts, one working the front and the chef in back warmly welcomed us and recommended a lovely table near the window for our group of three. Long menu or short menu? Simple. Long menu. Which dishes must we choose? Well, you get all of them on the menu, and what a menu. Each of the dishes were superb, not complicated, not pretentious, just beautifully executed and delicious. We each had our favorites. Price was an amazing 30 euros per menu wine. When you eat here you feel you are in a really good kitchen, but a kitchen of a friend, someone who respects your taste, and your wallet. If I lived in the area, I would eat her weekly.
