Breakfast here was okay.. Pretty basic Pros: I enjoyed the simplicity of some canned baked beans. Avo was ripe and fresh. Eggs were poached well. Cons: Mushrooms weren't very hot, maybe pre-cooked. Roasted tomato was actually tomato that was in a hot pan for seconds Spinach wasn't cooked?! That's weird because it takes seconds in a pan to wilt and warm it.... Seemed over staffed for somewhere that asks you to order at the counter. Coffee was okay. Lots of chocolate on the cappuccino which I really like. Can do better for money, I think.
Definetly in top places for breakfast in Hobart. Looked very busy and outdated but they serve very high quality food. I had the egg and salmon fritters, it was delic!! Smoked salmon and zukkini fritters are really good. Eggs were perfectly cooked. My husband had the big breakfast and he was very happy.
Good food and service but smoke from kitchen is suffocating. I do like going there for a coffee and sometimes something to eat but lately, especially on busy weekends it is almost impossible to dine inside as the smoke fumes from the kitchen are so bad. I don't know if they have their exhaust fans on or they just need a clean but I am tempted to notify the Health Department if it doesn't improve. I worked in a bar in Hobart for years with a similar problem (in the days when smoking was allowed in pubs) and the publicans reaction was that I should clean the vents if I was that worried about it! I did clean them but it didn't help much as they were above the bar and all the smoke came past...read more
Located across from Salamanca Market amidst upscale cafes where prices start at $15 and up, this place offers more affordable options, but the quality of food is severely lacking. I ordered scrambled eggs on toast, and the wholemeal bread tasted stale and definitely seemed like a generic brand. The scrambled eggs had a bland flavor reminiscent of powdered eggs, and the tomato relish was indistinguishable from ketchup. My friend enjoyed his breakfast focaccia with bacon and other fried items, while another friend ordered a mushroom stack with salsa but barely touched her meal. I would rather pay higher prices in Hobart than return to this place.
