The bar man didn't seem to have mu... read more We have dined at The Upton before and I had booked it again for my brothers birthday as we have enjoyed our previous visits . The bar man didn't seem to have much of a clue as to what he was doing, didn't understand the concept of whisky and dry ginger, and although there were only five of us in the party was extremely slow and got himself in quite a muddle working out the initial drinks bill. We were shown to our table, which had a reserved for 7:45pm sign on it, and then about 15 minutes later we were approached by the chap who took us to the table in the first place and asked if we had booked that night or just sat ourselves at the table, as it was already booked!!! The food was very good, and we all enjoyed our meals, but left feeling that there is a definite need for staff training and dining room etiquette

It was conveniently close to our homes, and we were pleasantly surprised by the great menu selection, high-quality food, and excellent service. It didn't seem like a chain restaurant, as the manager was very involved and showed a genuine concern for the quality of service. We will definitely be returning. The online booking system also worked very efficiently.

I remarked at how very cold it was and I was... read more We recently dined at the Upton Inn with friends. Upon arrival we were seated in a very cold area of the restaurant. I remarked at how very cold it was and I was told the fire was not working. Even though I remarked again at how cold I was we were not offered a table by the working fire where it was warm. Food took over an hour to arrive and when it did the quality was poor. The 'thick cut ' chips with my steak were frozen oven chips. The steak was over cooked. The pudding (pefitoroles was tasteless, dry and all full of cheap synthetic cream. This used to be a very lovely pub/restaurant with beautiful home made food. It has dramatically lost its charm and food quality since it was taken over by the new owners.Our meal cost nearly £70 for 2 of us so it was not cheap by any means but it was not worth the money we paid.

The food is delicious and the staff and chef go above and beyond to ensure a fun and enjoyable dining experience. The cozy restaurant with fireside tables adds to the charm of the place. In comparison to other pubs in the area, the Upton Inn stands out with its exceptional service and quality of food. I highly recommend the Upton Inn for a great night out or a special celebration. We will definitely be returning soon! Well done Upton Inn!
