Now, I would suggest that you take... read more I ventured with my brother and his vegetarian girlfriend into the outskirts of Basel to try this newly re-opened restaurant. Now, I would suggest that you take this journey upon yourself only if you have a car, for the place is as in the middle of “nowhere” as it can be in the countryside of a Swiss city. Nevertheless, the short motorized trip is totally worth it. This formerly well known Sunday family restaurant, has now been taken over by local entrepreneurs and managed also by a local gourmand. The “nose to tail” and local/season products philosophy is well highlighted in the daily menus as in the served flavorous. In the back of the restaurant, you will find some of the animals that find their way onto your plate after a, I suppose, happy free-range life. We had two meat lunch-menus and a vegetarian option. Everything was just delicious, fresh, and tasty. The portions were quite generous, and the prices on the higher end accordingly (even though normal for Switzerland. Tip: it is cheaper for lunch). The service was really amicable and surprisingly most spoke italian with us (our mother tongue). The very pleasant breeze on the garden terrace, was a welcome change to the oppressing heat of last summer. The peaceful and campestral atmosphere invites to a lazy meal, where everything can take its time. Small side note: the outside overall presentation felt rather rural. I know its on farmlands, but the restaurant is on the fancier side of the spectrum, and that is why this remark. Nevertheless, since this new version of the restaurant is after all in its infancy, there is still room for improvement. May you always savor the Golden Moment of Now.
