Was Michael H at Mosca's a mag?
This is one of the finest family-owned restaurants in the New Orleans area. You absolutely must try the breaded oysters, sautéed shrimp, and spaghetti with meatballs. With a rich history, their flavorful recipes will keep customers coming back for more. Be sure to bring cash, as this is a cash-only establishment. There is an ATM on-site, but it's best to come prepared! View all feedback.
What jeremy dislikes about Mosca's:
This is widely considered to be a hidden gem in New Orleans, serving unbelievable food in a posh space. It's none of those things, in reality. The food is, at best, fine. It's Italian food. You've had better, you've had worse. The atmosphere is, again, fine. It's a restaurant. There is nothing bad about Mosca's, and there is nothing special about it either. Edited: Original posted 6/24/2022 Visited New Orleans to see someone special and we needed to find a place for dinner the first night. The outside is littered with garbage everywhere, beer bottles, trash bags etc. (I said we should've left after this butid just flown in from MO and needed to eat. The parking lot is gravel and there isn't a walkway. We were ignored like 3 timestrying to ask if we needed a reservation or not and finally someone took us to a table in a corner with barely any lights andwas barely big enough to seat the 2 chairs that were there. A couple people came over to us saying they shared tables and tipsand we took a few minutes to look at the very tiny and VERY overpriced menu (you'll see why . We ordered 2 long Island iced teasand they were decent so at least there's that (reason for the 2 stars, I was tipsy before I left . We ended up ordering achicken dish (can't remember the name that was supposed to be half a chicken with the sauce that goes with it and garlic butternoodles. It sounded good and I was hopeful for the price thinking that sometimes little hole in the wall Italian places have thebest food... wrong, wrong, wrong. It's lucky it took so long for is to get our food because we both finished our first drink andordered a second while snacking on the bread they brought us because I would have very upset if I were completely sober andstill starving when this food came out finally. First of all, it was NOT a half of a chicken in any way, shape or form. Itliterally looked exactly like the Walmart brand Great Value chicken wings and drums that were boiled and then probably stuckunder one of those little broiler things to give an illusion of baking it. It was in this red sauce that was separating on theplate and it was a jumbled mess. There were 8 pieces in total. Then a side dish of some regular spaghetti noodles that had somebutter and garlic... the chicken was slimy and there wasn't enough enough meat on all 8 of them for
It doesn't matter that you have to drive 20 mi outside of downtown New Orleans to get to this place, just freaking go! I would drive a hundred miles to get... No, scrap that... I would drive 500 miles to be able to have this experience again. The serviceis incredible, the weight or the food to be prepared may seem long, but when you know that your meal is being preparedespecially for you, time doesn't matter. If you need video proof, go watch season 1 of somebody feed Phil and check out theMosca's segment. It's not only that good, but better in real time. By the way, it's cash only, but there's an ATM machine insideI believe.
We are from out of town and went to Moscas bc we saw it on a tv show. We were not disappointed!!! Seriously some of the best most yummiest food we?ve ever had. We had bread, salad, oysters Mosca, pasta, and meatballs. Everything was as delicious as we?dhoped it would be!!!! Service was great!
To vinegary salad. Had to wait 1 hour for pasta. When asked waitress said each order is made to order. Wish she could of told us before 45 minutes passed. Sauce was not worth drive.
