Menu
A complete menu of Thai Sun from Waterloo featuring all 68 dishes and drinks can be found here on the menu.
Thai Sun, located in uptown Waterloo, offers a mix of authentic and inauthentic Thai dishes. The waitstaff is friendly and eager for feedback, but the dishes lack the traditional flavors of Thai cuisine. Pad Thai may be watery, but the homemade hot sauce adds flavor. The atmosphere is westernized, but the service is excellent. Curry dishes may have undercooked vegetables, but are creamy and flavorful. The Cashew Chicken & Shrimp entree is a standout dish. While the prices may be slightly higher, the diverse flavors and helpful service make Thai Sun worth a visit.

Was Anonym at Thai Sun a mag?
We are fortunate with the weather so get to sit on a nice patio. On our last visit the food was better than ever. The group tried the green, red and yellow curries. The yellow curry was a good portion size and a great taste. Selection of beer is good, with the standard Singha, Tiger (from Singapore), as well as local Ontario beer. View all feedback.
What Anonym dislikes about Thai Sun:
I recently went to Thai Sun for lunch with my daughter. We both have been there before and were pleased with our experiences. Unfortunately it was rather disappointing this time. We both ordered the lunch special which was pad thai with tempura shrimp. The pad thai was poor and not enjoyable. I could not eat it and took it home and threw it out. I did however enjoy the shrimp, it was hot and amazing and I am sorry th... View all feedback.
The food was very mediocre at best, I ended up eating only a few bites. Maybe I'm not used to this specific type of Thai, but I didn't enjoy it at all. The service and ambiance were great, so that was definitely good to see.
While strolling through uptown Waterloo, my brother and I stumbled upon this restaurant. With no other options in sight and my own indecisiveness, we decided to give it a try. We visited on a Monday, when they were offering a special of Chicken/Veggie Pad Thai for $10, which was a decent deal. The service was fast, but unfortunately, that was the only highlight of our experience. The Pad Thai sauce was watery and failed to achieve the perfect balance of sweet, salty, spicy, and sour flavors typical of Thai cuisine. It lacked depth of flavor and had a strange hint of butter. The only saving grace was their homemade hot sauce, which added some much-needed heat and flavor. In conclusion, if you're looking for inexpensive, quick, and inauthentic Thai food, this place might suffice. However, if you're seeking a more authentic and flavorful Thai dining experience, there are better options down the street.
Thai Sun is my top pick for Thai food in Waterloo. When my dad visited me at university and expressed a craving for Thai food, I recommended Thai Sun. I had been there before with friends and had a great experience. I've tried the green curry both times and it never disappoints. I appreciate that they offer a homemade hot sauce, as I find the base spice level not quite hot enough for my taste (although my dad found it quite spicy).
