Combined with the spa package this was a really enjoyable stay. We opted to eat in at the restaurant. A few weeks later we noticed on our credit card statement a charge which was in excess of what we expected for the meal and beverage. We have attempted on many occasions to simply get clarification regarding the costs, we know exactly what we had but no prices have been forthcoming. The stay was great but the latter spoilt it for us. All I can suggest is that you check prices before committing to any extras.
We found our experience at the restaurant to be quite acceptable given the price we paid with a voucher, although we wouldn't want to pay full price. The rooms and bathrooms were very clean, and our group of three couples each received a lovely bottle of wine and chocolates. After our treatments, we enjoyed wine and cheese in the afternoon. Kathy, who cooked us a delicious evening meal, was exceptionally pleasant. Our group of four friends had a great time enjoying each other's company and drinks by the fire in the cozy lounge. Although Kathy left after dinner, we enjoyed the homey and comfortable atmosphere and had plenty of laughs and conversation before retiring for the night. The boys lit the fire, creating a cozy atmosphere. In the morning, we all enjoyed hot showers before departing. The boys weren't too interested in the treatments, but the girls were satisfied with them, considering they were essentially complimentary. The only complaint was that the treatments had to be done in town rather than at the house, which was unexpected. Despite needing some renovations, we still had an enjoyable time and appreciated going with friends rather than alone.
We had a Christmas in July dinner prepared by Cathy, and it was fantastic - fresh and plentiful. Cathy is a wonderful host who goes above and beyond to make sure everything is perfect. Even though she may not be there 24/7, it adds to the charm of the place, making it feel like your own home. We left feeling completely relaxed and will definitely be returning. Highly recommended - thank you for sharing such a beautiful spot in the world, we loved it.
My partner and I were given a voucher to Collinora by our daughter as a gift. The voucher stated a night of luxury for two, normally $664 for $129. It's advertised as a health resort. False advertising!! Not at all what we were expecting. The massage treatments are carried out in a gloomy, dirty and messy looking shop in Warwick, not at all like a luxurious health resort as advertised. The deluxe ladies facial and the men's detox treatment plus get 2 x $20 vouchers wasn't included in the price as stated on the voucher but cost my partner $120. The facial certainly wasn't deluxe, more like a mini-facial and I was left alone a few times while the masseuse kept checking on my partner who was in the detox capsule. Then after the massage feeling very ripped off, we had to drive down the road feeling sticky and wet to check into the accommodation. We parked our car in the back where the grass was overgrown and there was some shabby run down shed. We were relieved to find out that wasn't where we were sleeping but it's where they do the massage treatments when busy.!! The pool was old, the spa was old and looked dirty. Not at all inviting. The deal stated that we would receive 2 bottles of wine and chocolates. We received a few stale looking chocolates on a plate that we decided not to eat and the 2 bottles of wine came in plastic sample sized 185ml bottles. The owner Cathy only appears when you are booking in. After that, you are left on your own. She leaves a contact phone number on display and says that she can be contacted on it if there are any problems. There are 4 rooms off a corridor. There is only one central bathroom to share with all the other house guests. Our room looked dusty and dirty. Cathy tried to convince us to stay for dinner. At $60 per head for steak, we opted out and ate locally. Minutes after I dropped off to sleep that night, I awoke to hear a man yelling and banging on the front door. The noise abated, then I saw a large figure appear through the glass near our bedroom door that opened onto the deck. This same man then entered our bedroom with a key!! He managed to get partially through the door before my partner jumped out of bed and struggled for some time before he pushed him out. As there was nobody in charge, my partner then had to deal with this 185cm drunk man at the front door. He said he was a guest of the house and had lost his key. This man was obviously very drunk and staggered to the room where he was staying. This incident really upset me and I was unable to sleep for the remainder of the night as this man still had our key. I was also concerned about the character of the remainder of the people who we were sharing with in the house. My partner rang Cathy in the morning as we were leaving but no answer.!! She later rang and explained that the guest who had entered our room had lost his key earlier in the day and the office had accidentally given him the wrong key. Our key!!She apologised and said she would arrange something to compensate us. Of course, we haven't heard anything further from this very unprofessionally run place.
