Tree Tavern - Wanaque
Tree Tavern
Description
Tucked away on picturesque grounds, this small restaurant wins fans with standout dishes—chicken parm, duck, seafood specials—and an impressive wine selection and gift shop. Indoor and outdoor seating make it ideal for intimate dinners, celebrations and large parties; reservations are recommended. Experiences vary: many praise the food and atmosphere, while others report long waits, inconsistent service and a strict 90‑minute seating policy. Prices trend moderate to high and vegetarian choices are limited, but for wine lovers and special occasions it remains a charming hidden gem.

We visited as a party of 10 and had a fantastic outdoor dining experience with a wonderful atmosphere. The food was incredible, and our waitress, Alex, was outstanding. The location is a bit tucked away and can be hard to find, but it's definitely worth it.
Pizza is pretty bad and that’s even by NJ standards. Menu otherwise not vegetarian friendly at all. Priced on the high side across the board and also a 4% hit unless you have a pile of cash. Naaaah. Many better local places to go.
My review is based on their frozen pizza. Not the restaurant since I’ve never been.. I remember long ago when they were in Paterson… perhaps the best frozen pizza I’ve ever had and I had many many of them,, My freezer is always stocked with them.. thin crust great sauce.. I add my own toppings.. I highly recommend their frozen pizza… u won’t be disappointed,,,
I had a disappointing experience at the restaurant tonight. I waited over two hours for my dinner, and for the first time ever, I found myself adding salt and pepper to my food—there was no flavor at all.
Traveling from out of town, I was delighted to find such a beautiful place to relax and enjoy a fantastic meal. The duck and French onion burger were both delicious and arrived promptly despite the restaurant being full! Our server, Isabell, was incredibly accommodating and friendly, making the experience even better. I highly recommend this tucked-away gem for anyone seeking great food at a fair price. The only downsides I could mention are that the noise from other diners tends to carry, making the atmosphere a bit loud at times, but it didn’t detract from my enjoyment. Additionally, while the macarons were tasty, they weren’t anything extraordinary. Overall, I would rate it a perfect 10/10 for its wonderful environment!
