Oyster Express in Chinatown is a cozy treasure with a great selection of fresh oysters from various regions. While the happy hour oysters were a bit underwhelming, the Gorge Inlet oysters stood out as a favorite. The clean shucks and friendly service set this spot apart, making it a must-visit for oyster lovers. With reasonable prices and a charming atmosphere, Oyster Express is a hidden gem worth uncovering again and again.

Was Steven Marterer at Oyster Express a mag?
Small oyster bar in Chinatown. Had variety of oysters from BC, PEI and elsewhere. The happy hour oyster for 2.50 each was a bit bland and unexciting. The favorite was the Gorge Inlet which was larger in size and tastier than the other options. The fried oyster was really good too. Would rate it higher if was bit cheaper in prices. What tiffany S dislikes about Oyster Express:
We had a very disappointing experience at Oyster Express. After leaving our name, we politely asked the host a couple of times about the wait time. At first, he said it would be at least 30 minutes. Later, he changed it to at least one hour. Then, instead of being honest and consistent, he contradicted himself again and even told us we were “extremely impatient.” This was very unprofessional and disrespectful service... Great little spot that use to be a clothing store turned Oyster Bar. The atmosphere and freshness is second to none. If you are looking for a quick place to have pre drinks and appies this is it! Wine and sparkling too.
A surprise location on the fringes of Chinatown, it's a cozy little treasure that we want to keep a secret... but we like them so much we want them to be successful, so here's me letting the cat out of the bag.THE CLEANEST SHUCKS IN TOWN, hands down. We are suckers for a clean shuck (say that 3 times out loud!) Been to Rodney's, been to Joe's, been to Coast, well you get the idea. These guys buy the freshest oysters and they shuck'em with love. Served up with peppered vodka, mignonette, tobasco, cocktail sauce, fresh lemon wedges, the works. They always have a $1.50 oyster on special and we have never gone wrong with the feature, although we sample the pricier ones because we are working on our university of oysters degree :-)We're going on a dozen times and not once have we experienced anything negative from either the food or the service. The servers are genuine and efficient and they know their oysters! Good ceasars, happy hour drink specials and surprise, they make a crazy good grilled cheese. I chose this place for my birthday dinner although I could have easily chosen someplace swankier... we had a great meal. If you don't like raw food there are alot of other choices... the steamed clams/mussels are pretty juicy specimens of yumminess.Only downside is if you're a group of over 6 seating maybe a challenge as the place is quite tiny. You could spend $15 here for a meal if you're on a budget or you could spend way way more if you're like us and slurp these puppies down by the dozens (lots of zinc, good for you!)Oh yes, my rule of thumb is always wash down raw anything with alcohol. Vodka, sake, champagne are the classic choices. I personally never eat raw seafood without safeguarding against any potential hazards with a shot of something.Keep up the good work Oyster Express, we'll see you soon again.
This hidden gem on Keefer Street is a delicious place to visit. If you are obsessed with finding good buck a shucks, these guys have a great variety that is not as expensive as some of the other places in downtown. There are also some other snack options that are served during happy hour and even the draft beer is cheap. It's a small place and we learned they do take reservations. If you get there too late, they would not be able to seat a larger group so be forewarned. The service was really good, no complaints!
Favourite oyster joint when I can make their hours. Raw oysters always fresh. Fried oysters delicious.. And believe it or not, salt pepper wings are awesome. Owners are great partners and always friendly! Food: 5 Service: 5 Atmosphere: 5
The oysters were incredibly fresh and delicious — even though I’m not an expert, I really enjoyed them! My favourites were the Shigoku and the ones from PEI, but honestly, every variety we tried was great. Definitely coming back again! Food: 5 Service: 5 Atmosphere: 5 Price per person: CA$40–50
