Long line. Feels bad when the person in front of you clears out the entirety of one item.That said, the tarts were good and its packaging was also multi-tiered and fancy. The cheesecake was very delicious, with different textures and a nice balance of flavors. Premium price for premium quality. View all feedback.

I arrived just as the cheese tarts were being served to see what all the buzz was about. It was my first time trying a cheese tart, and although it was warm and flaky, the tartness of the cheese didn't quite mix well with the black sesame. I have seen many people raving about the delicious desserts at Bake49 on Instagram, so I was eager to finally give it a try. Last Saturday, I convinced my fiance to accompany me to this Japanese bakery located on Mainland St in Vancouver's Yaletown area. Situated across from Earls, Bake49 specializes in cheese tarts and has quickly gained popularity, with long lineups out the door since its opening. We were lucky to arrive right when it opened at 1pm and didn't have to wait in line to place our order. We decided to try the Croquant Choux, a crunchy almond-crust pastry filled with vanilla bean custard creme. The exterior was crispy and slightly sweet, while the vanilla bean interior had a rich yet not overly sweet flavor that I enjoyed, as I am not a fan of overly sweet desserts. Although the prices at Bake49 are a bit on the higher side, such as the Sapporo style Japanese cheese tarts at $3.80 each or 6 for $19, I believe that the quality justifies the cost. I look forward to returning to Bake49 to sample more of their offerings and highly recommend it to fellow dessert lovers.
We sampled the cheese tart and cream puff. Both were quite enjoyable, though not particularly unforgettable or irresistible. If we happen to be nearby, we may stop in again. The tarts are especially delicious when served warm.
The drinks and desserts were delicious! they were not so overly sweet, just the right amount sweet! best were the waiters friendly, so I guess that's the best part? I'd like to go back! I want to try all the different aromes of brot!
Bake49 used to be our favourite go-to coffee and pastry shop at Yaletown. We would frequent this on Saturday mornings and buy their Einspanner or Dalgona Lattes, paired with berry croissants and their delectable and unique cream puffs. However, over time, they seem to have staffing issues, then the shop was always closed for long periods of time (a full month at one time), and upon reopening, they seem to have changed to a new bagel concept which unfortunately doesn’t have the same flavours and delicious menu selections as before. I miss the old Bake49. Photos and videos were taken before their menu changed.
