Pine Crest Inn
Menu
We might have the menu of Pine Crest Inn from Tryon in the photos. You might find a list of dishes and drinks further below.
Once a beloved historic inn, this property now presents a stark contrast in guest experiences. While some praise its charming grounds, attentive staff, and delightful breakfast, many report severe neglect: musty, unclean rooms, faulty plumbing, and misleading advertising with no functioning restaurant or bar. Maintenance issues such as broken toilets, slanted floors, and a lack of Wi-Fi contribute to dissatisfaction. Management’s customer service has been questioned, especially regarding non-refundable deposits and unresponsiveness. Despite scattered positive remarks, the consensus suggests the inn is struggling under current ownership, leaving many hopeful for restoration to its former glory but cautioning travelers to manage expectations.

What William Cook dislikes about Pine Crest Inn:
Terrible experience. It was disheartening to return to this place after 20 years and witness its decline under the current owners. The website is misleading and should be taken down; there’s no restaurant and no bar. I made a dinner reservation, believing the restaurant still operated, but received no response. Thankfully, my friends couldn’t join me. The rooms are musty, and the toilet seat was broken. The breakfast... View all feedback.
We recently visited an Inn that was an absolute gem. The historic charm, picturesque grounds, tasty breakfast, and welcoming innkeepers made our stay truly unforgettable. I am eagerly looking forward to returning to enjoy the tranquil setting and hospitable atmosphere once more.
The breakfast options were a joke—just sugary cereal from a discount store. The lawn and gardens are neglected, and there’s no Wi-Fi. I hope new ownership comes in soon to restore it to its former glory. Until then, save your money. It's a real disappointment for Tryon.
This was the worst experience we have ever had Do not check in do not book. The weirdest experience ever. We should never have checked in , driving into the place there was no one else in the entire place no other guests. No restaurant the room was musty and not clean. Old and run down. We left packed up and drove to Spartanburg to stay elsewhere. No one will answer the phone. No inn keeper available no front desk person. Bizarre. It should be closed. Maybe it really is.
The Pine Crest is a shadow of her former self. We could see that the place had been badly neglected. Your staff had told us the breakfast was Continental so we knew it was not a cooked meal, but please!! Granola bars from Costco, shriveled fruit, milk only if you ask for it. It would not cost a fortune to serve hard boiled eggs, string cheese, toast, peanut butter or, (even better) go into Tryon when you have guests staying and get some croissants. The coffee was good by the way: nice and strong and hot. The deep decks and rocking chairs are lovely. We are told the rocking chairs were all made by a mountain man in the 1920 's. The broken rocking chair propped up on the deck rather spoiled the image. Likewise the window screens. Nothing screams neglected like broken screens. The internet was non-existent when we were there. We have heard stories of the Pine Crest Inn for many years, including that Lady Astor and F Scott Fitzgerald stayed there during the Inn 's heyday. We also heard splendid stories of the food served once upon a time. What a shock. The Pine Crest is a shadow of her former self which is very sad. Safety: Felt very safe. Lovely location. Walkability: Easy to walk into Tryon. Food drinks: See review. Breakfast was almost non existent.
