Was John R at Seminarshof a mag?
Having found a restaurant in Leiwen closed we set off on our bicycles for a late lunch at Seminarshof. No problem with a table or service. Although the terrace is at the junction of the main village street and the bridge over the Mosel traffic was light. What Darius Kern dislikes about Seminarshof:
Vaste waarde in Trittenheim en erbuiten. Recent helemaal vernieuwd, echt mooi met toch nog de Moselaccenten. Leuk terrasje ook. Kaart is ruim en toch zijn alle gerechten goed van kwaliteit en origineel gebracht. Geen saaie boek hier. Grote porties op je bord tegen heel scherpe prijzen. Wijnaanbod is ook top gezien ze ook zelf wijn verbouwen. Een fles goede wijn voor 12€: kan je in België nog eens van dromen. Hier kom... View all feedback.
Great service interesting menu including black pudding strudel. Very reasonably priced wine list. Recommended

Stayed for the first time in the hotel and together with the experience from the past years about the restaurant we can only recommend for a dinner, a simple meal, a dessert , a wine tasting etcetera ..
We had lunch on a warm day in May and sat outside on one of the two terraces. Personel is very friendly. We had wine and coffe and all three ate schnitzel. Very well served with salad and French fries. Delicious we all three thought. Place outside were very well shadowed by trees and big parasols. Beautiful view on the wine slopens of the Moesel valley.
Seminarshof Hotel – we stayed one night, on our cycling trip, in this nice hotel (actually in their annex building a block away, behind the main hotel), and it was very nice. The annex is modern and seems newly refurbished, our room was very large with a peaked ceiling, a balcony with a nice view of the mountains and part of the town, a nice bathroom, with heated towel rack, and a very comfortable bed. It also had a large desk area, which was very useful for working at a laptop. The breakfast was offered in the annex building, with a good assortment of fruits, yogurt, breads, meats and cheeses, etc. The nearby pizza place (about the only place that was open for dinner on the Sunday night we were there) was bustling and very busy, with very good food. (The Seminarshof restaurant itself was not open that night).
