Broken Barrel offers a promising dining experience with a diverse, innovative menu set against a scenic water view. While patrons praise the food quality—a highlight being the delightful octopus and scrumptious paella arancini—some have noted inconsistencies in service and menu availability. The atmosphere, while peaceful, could benefit from a more vibrant ambiance, especially during special occasions. Dining here feels safe, with robust COVID-19 precautions in place, including temperature checks and staff in masks. Overall, it’s a solid choice for those seeking exceptional food in a tranquil setting.

What John R dislikes about Broken Barrel:
Great place for bland/overpriced food and tiny portions. Drinks are ok. I think everything is over priced to help pay for the good view out back which was the only pleasant thing we experienced. I noticed how the manager/Chef interacted with one of her waitresses and it was completely rude and unprofessional. Poor girl came back to us with teary eyes. A delightful and different culinary and libation experience in the Woodlands
Broken Barrel is a hidden gem among all the chains in The Woodlands. Chef Hilda’s creations are innovative and more importantly- delicious!
Innovative menu, reasonable prices, tasty food, nice setting and friendly service. It all adds up to make it a very pleasant experience. The only area to improve is the dessert menu it is not innovative or surprising.
I thoroughly enjoyed my visit to this restaurant! I arrived for lunch after the peak hours, which made for a peaceful atmosphere and a lovely view. Simon was my server, and I must say, I'll gladly wait for his section next time it's busy. He was extremely attentive and knowledgeable about the menu. I tried the octopus and the soup of the day, and both were delightful! The gin and tonic I ordered was also excellent. Thank you so much, Simon! I will certainly be coming back.
The grilled fish accompanied by artichoke sauce and quinoa was simply outstanding. Even though there was a mix-up with my original order, the manager promptly addressed the issue and ensured everything was taken care of. Our dinner was genuinely memorable, thanks to the wonderful company, delectable food, exquisite wine, delightful dessert, and charming ambiance. The restaurant boasts a breathtaking sunset view and is definitely worth a visit.
