We went for dinner on a Sunday evening. The restaurant wasn't super busy. Service was adequate and no complaints. We got seated promptly. The server took our food order at the appropriate time. The two favorite dishes: 1. Hakkebof Med Log ground sirloin with grilled onions was juicy and flavorful. Cooked to the request of medium rare. 2. The Wienerschnitzel the thin slice of meat was light and juicy. The scallion potatoes, red cabbage and cucumber salad added a nice burst of freshness to the expertly cooked meats. Why not 5 star? The price is high: 16 for 4 potato skin; each entree 26 31; bread for 4; and a 16oz. beer 12. The meal costs an arm and a leg. This is our only complaint. Understand that it is targeting tourists, but we are local Californians who go back to the same restaurant for good food when we visit the town again.
The web page made this place seem like the ultimate in Danish food, but when we went it was mostly American food with a limited selection of anything European, possibly because we were there for a late lunch early dinner. I ordered the Copenhagen Salad which was nothing more than a tossed salad with a little sprinkle of danish cheese on it. My husband ordered the Chicken Cesar salad which was not really any better than mine, both had slightly wilted lettuce. We sat out on the back porch and the service was less than enthusiastic, it seemed the server didn't care to wait on the people who were in the porch area. I am guessing the food and service may be better if you go at the height of the dinner rush instead of around 5:00, but we were disappointed, especially considering the cost of the meal.
Stopped by after 5pm on a Tuesday for dinner. We decided to take a table in the covered patio as the weather was good. I ordered the Wienersnitchel, mashed potatoes and red cabbage and had a Danish Red Lager beer. The Wienersnitchel was very good and I have to say the red cabbage was the best that I have eaten to date. The Red Lager beer was the perfect drink to accompany the pork dish. The staff and service was very good.
We went out to dinner on Sunday night and found the restaurant to be not too busy. The service was adequate and we were seated promptly. Our server took our food order in a timely manner. Our two favorite dishes were the Hakkebof Med Log Groundirloin with grilled onions, which was juicy and delicious, cooked to perfection at medium rare, and the Wienerschnitzel, a thin and juicy meat slice served with scalion potatoes, red cabbage, and cucumber salad. The only downside was the high prices: $16 for potato skins, $26-$31 for each entree, $4 for bread, and $12 for a 16oz beer. While the meal was quite expensive, we still enjoy returning to this restaurant for its good food whenever we visit the city again.
The food at this restaurant is fantastic! We began our meal with the Danish herring appetizer with three sauces - it was incredible! My wife ordered the salmon and I chose the lamb shank. You can't go wrong with anything on the menu here. We visited on a weekday evening and sat out on the back terrace.
