Was Anonym at Phnom Penh a mag?
this place is amazing. her crispy friend tofu is to die. my favorite is erdnussbutter tofu, spring rolls with peanut sauce and sesame balls. they have to order peanut sauce for the spring rolls, otherwise it comes with a fish sauce. they have tons of dressing that can be made vegan with tofu, they just need to ask the server. they are very well informed about the vegan diet. her lemongras curry is very good. these ar... What Anonym dislikes about Phnom Penh:
We ate at this place several years ago when we went to Mt Rushmore and stayed a night in the city. Once again we were there and all the kids still remember the place and wanted to go back there again. They have redecorate the place but the food was still the same as we remember. This time, the place was empty cause they had just open. Last time we were there the place was packed. We ordered eggrolls for appetizer and... View all feedback.
I am acquainted with one of the dancers at the restaurant, and I provided transportation for her to and from work.
The beverages are priced quite high, and the level of hospitality does not justify the cost. The ambiance is elegant, but the dancers only engage with patrons who are spending a significant amount of money.
Looks can be deceiving. I don't think this place would have turned my head once, if I'd even noticed it in the first place. However, we wanted something different, and online reviews said it was excellent. It's not excellent, this place was phenomenal! The waiter was very nice and gave us great information on the menu to help us decide. We got the fresh spring rolls as an appetizer and even my somewhat picky 9 year old devoured his quickly. Between the 5 in my family, we got pork with sticky rice (the meat is not in a sauce), num ansom chrouk (very different in taste and a great savory dish), banh chao (very tasty and the sauce is a little on the sweeter side), general chicken (had a bit of kick), and my youngest got the sweet and sour shrimp. EVERYTHING was delicious, even the sweet and sour shrimp. I suspected it would taste like your average fast food fried shrimp with dipping sauce, but it had a variation in taste that made it hard for me to eat just one. I had the num ansom chrouk and it was just enough to fill me, but leave room to nibble on everyone else's dishes too. We all had just a bit of left overs so portions were good. I felt the prices were fitting, though price is always relative to your financial situation I suppose. I highly recommend this place to anyone who wants to try something new. I suspect this will be a regular stop on our trips to S.F. now and I eagerly anticipate trying something different when we go back.
My sister brought me to this little hole in the wall place and it was amazing. The Rangoons were some of the best I've ever had. The Spicy Druken Noodles were delicious and I could have eaten another bowl despite the first one being so filling. I had spring rolls, with shrimp, for the first time which were good, but next time I think I will try them with the beef or pork, whatever the other option was. (Just not a fan of cold shrimp) But everything about this place was exceptional, from the food to the service. Definitely can't wait to come back here again when I'm in town.
