Niu B is the second location of the original Niu Japanese Fusion Lounge located in Chicago. Offering signature maki rolls, fresh sushi nigiris, sashimi, and Japanese Robata Grilled Skewers. The full bar features specialty Japanese whiskey cocktails, house infusions, and Korean Soju that pairs perfectly with grilled skewers. The interior is sleek and modern, inspired by 1930s Japanese Izakaya Bar in Tokyo.

While the Mongolian beef may lack spice and portion size, the quick service and lively ambiance make for an enjoyable dining experience. Vegan options are available, but not extensive, with occasional mishaps in cleanliness to bear in mind. Sushi lovers will find a new favorite spot in the South Loop, with delicious options and attentive staff. Parking is convenient nearby, and be sure to ask for the best sakis rather than opting for a flight. For those seeking a taste of Afghanistan, a must-try is the lamb kabob with saffron rice, offering a delightful dining experience worth returning for.
We really enjoyed the mushroom ramen with the vegan broth. Just remember to ask for no egg if you want a fully vegan option. The pad Thai was also tasty. The staff was friendly and attentive.
The food at this restaurant was delicious, and they had clearly marked vegan options on the menu, albeit with a limited selection. I decided to try the Chinese Longbeans as a side, but was disappointed to find unwashed lettuce wraps with dead bugs inside. For my main course, I ordered the wild mushroom ramen which was very tasty, but had to be sent back because it came with egg even though I had specified no egg when placing my order. The waiter claimed he didn't hear me, despite repeating my request back to me. Although the appetizer was complimentary, I do not intend on returning to this restaurant.
There are not many vegan options available for a complete dinner at this restaurant. The vegan sushi rolls and green beans were delicious, but it would have been great if there were more staple dishes like fried rice or pad Thai that could be made vegan.
