Lovely quiet atmosphere for an afternoon pint and a plate of chips. Very friendly staff, thank you.
With a group of friends, we had gone to the Grindstone for a nostalgic visit, having not been there for over 40 years (but it did come recommended by a friend who lives locally). The pub is modernised, and this means loud music (a touch too loud for us old gits, as conversation was challenged) while you find yourself surrounded by a variety of TV screens all showing different programmes. But the beer is good and the BBQ food OK (the pulled pork I had was acceptable but a bit old in taste) I do not think I would return for the above reasons.
A group of us visited here on Sunday night to watch the netball super league final match. They were really accommodating about putting this on for us I called in advance to check that they could do this for us. Really friendly bar staff and lovely interior of the pub! So refreshing to find a lineup of locally brewed cask ales including Stones Bitter brewed with the same hops, yeast and water profile of yesteryear but much, much better than I can remember. Price per person: £1–10 Service: 5 Atmosphere: 5
