Hooper's is a charming cafe with a great selection of coffee and food. Despite some mixed reviews about the customer service, the atmosphere and decor make up for it. The owners, Phil and his wife, have worked hard to create a vibrant community hub with local art, open mic nights, and a delightful garden area. The butter tarts are a highlight, along with the legendary scones that are made with a special technique. If you're in the area, Hooper's is definitely worth a visit for a relaxing and enjoyable experience.

Was Jeffry Zemlak at Hooper's a mag?
Hoopers is an artsy cafe with great ambience. Cabbage soup is excellent. Owners Phil and wife have really made an effort to be part of the community, turning a previously rundown property into a pleasant stop filled with quality local arts and crafts, open mike nights, a great little garden area out back in summer and good music. Definitley a place to go. View all feedback.
What Jeffry Zemlak dislikes about Hooper's:
The coffee and food are very good. I enjoy sitting at a table with a great coffee in a lovely surrounding. I'm only giving it a because of the unfriendly lady behind the counter. than once I have been and she doesn't seem...to want to be very pleasant. On the other hand, the gentleman who works there is very friendly and outgoing. View all feedback.
This cozy and friendly venue offers delicious baked goods and soups, with the added bonus of a wide variety of gift items available.
As the owners will tell you, not a lot of great coffee in the area, but this place is awesome! Very friendly owners and great tasting coffee. Very generous amounts of ice cream. Hard working staff. Awesome spot for a study night or a breakfast.
Nicely decorated, and good coffee and desserts. Very clean. My grandchildren especially liked the ice cream
During our visit to the Washago area, my daughter and I decided to dine at Hoopers. As vegans, we asked about dairy-free ice cream, but unfortunately they did not have any in the store front. However, the kind lady working behind the counter went above and beyond to locate the owner and inquire about sorbet in the deep freezer. Not only did they have sorbet available, but they opened a brand new container for my daughter and even waived the charge due to the wait. The staff and owner at Hoopers truly went out of their way to put a smile on my daughter's face and make her day. I was truly touched by their kindness and genuine customer service. We will definitely be returning to Hoopers and highly recommend it to any locals or visitors passing through Washago.
Based on a recommendation from a friend who lives nearby, I decided to try the famous scones at Hooper's. My friend, who is from Scotland, claimed they were the best she had ever tasted. I tried the blueberry and raspberry scones and they definitely lived up to their reputation. When I asked Mrs. Hooper about her secret recipe, she explained that she uses whipping cream and freezes the butter before grating it into the batter. This results in incredibly light and moist scones once baked. I enjoyed them so much that I took a half dozen home with me. I highly recommend pairing a delicious Hooper's scone with a great cup of dark coffee on a sunny May morning in Washago. Hopefully, they will consider switching from single-use plates and cups in the near future.
