What Tyron Go dislikes about Tori Tori Kushiyaki Snack:
The food was disappointing as it didn't have the authentic taste of Japanese cuisine. I ordered the Butabara and Angus belly sticks, which were sweeter than savory. The fish in the rice bowl and the spicy tuna also had an artificial sweetness and lacked the freshness of real seafood. Meal type: Dinner Price per person: ₱400–600 Food: 2 Service: 3 Atmosphere: 3 View all feedback.
Looking for a casual spot to relax on a Friday night, we stumbled upon the wonderful Tori Tori Kushiyaki Snack Bar in San Juan. This place was exactly what we needed—a laid-back atmosphere where we could enjoy delicious food without any pretension. The menu features an impressive selection of grilled skewers and sushi rolls, all tempting us to sample various dishes. We opted for a DIY skewer sampler that included Wagyu cubes, bacon quail eggs, duck blood, Angus beef, chicken skin, and chicken liver, and every single item exceeded our expectations. For rolls and sushi, we chose salmon cheese rolls, beef teriyaki rolls, and steak aburi sushi, and the portion sizes were pleasantly surprising. We left feeling full and content. After our meal, we had a chance to chat with the managers, Sir Ralph and Ma'am Sheryl (I hope I got your names right amid the bustling atmosphere), and I expressed my admiration for the food and service. They suggested the grilled salmon skin as one of their best sellers and generously offered us a complimentary order, which we eagerly anticipated. They were spot on; it was outstanding! The salmon skin was light and crispy, infused with a delightful grilled charcoal flavor and a thin layer of meat that melted in our mouths. A squeeze of calamansi and a sprinkle of togarashi powder took it to new heights. After settling our bill, we thanked the staff and left with unforgettable memories of this place. I'm confident Tori Tori will become one of my go-to spots for Friday night hangouts with friends! Kudos to Tori Tori! Meal type: Dinner Food: 5 Service: 5 Atmosphere: 5
Edit (July 2025): We ordered from Grab, and the yakitori sticks at Tori Tori Kushiyaki Snack are still fantastic and delicious. However, I was extremely disappointed with the Spicy Tuna Maki—priced at P357 for ridiculously small portions. In the photo, you can see that the maki rolls are like miniature versions of their other rolls, and for some reason, the spicy tuna maki is smaller than bite-sized pieces. The high price just adds to the disappointment. I do not recommend those; stick to the yakitori if you want to avoid disappointment. I highly recommend Tori Tori for delicious yakitori that won’t break the bank. We tried several sticks, and I loved the Angus and pork belly, with a special mention for the bacon enoki, which was soft and tasty. The eggplant was a bit sweet, and the salmon skin roll was massive (definitely hard to eat in one bite!). I'm definitely coming back for more. The meat was incredibly soft, tender, and flavorful. The service can be a bit slow since they can accommodate a lot of diners. Meal type: Lunch. Price per person: ₱400–600. Food: 4, Service: 5, Atmosphere: 4.
