At a local establishment known for its vibrant atmosphere and flavorful dishes, recent visits reveal a mixed bag of experiences. I must say. The first time I had this place we DoorDash a pick up and we had po boys. They were amazing. This past weekend a buddy and I went there to eat in person because eating at a restaurant should be better right? Unfortunately it was an utter disappointment. The server was great until I stated that the food was extremely bland. Their response was ?I know that?s why we put seasonings in the bucket on the table?. This actually blew my mind because food should come out of the kitchen already flavored. The customer shouldn?t have to put salt in their food so it actually has flavor. She was helping so many people and I give her service a 5* because she?s not in the kitchen cooking. The food I give a 1*. I will not be back. Between the both of us we spent around 120$ we ordered multiple foods so we can try a little bit of each. I had high hopes based off of our DoorDash pickup. Sad day it was.
First time here and I have to say I am surprised how good the food is here. Everything from Oysters to chicken fried stakes. The food is just good. Oh and uh, good service as well, girl with the purple hair, she?s awesome, one woman show. Ask for her. 4 stars because it?s smoking in the patio. ?
The food was quite disappointing! I ordered the crab-stuffed shrimp, shrimp and crab hush puppies, along with several sides. The crab-stuffed shrimp turned out to be essentially frozen butterfly shrimp filled with frozen crab cake meat, which was mostly breading and felt more like stuffing. The shrimp and crab hush puppies were just fried cheese balls. Every bite was greasier than the last, to the point where I had to tear them apart to drain the grease before eating. I couldn't taste any seafood in those greasy cheesy bites. To top it all off, the supposedly freshly made daily bread pudding was as hard as a brick. The only highlight was the fries, and the total came to $40. I won’t be returning.
I used to frequent this restaurant for lunch at least once a week when I worked in Richardson. The food was good, but the red beans and rice were exceptional. I moved away a couple of years ago, but I returned for a weekend and decided to have dinner there on Sunday. The place was just as I remembered, though it was quite empty, with only about five other customers, two of whom were sitting outside. The music was too loud, making it difficult for the staff and patrons to hear each other without shouting. The food was mediocre; we ended up receiving a baked quartered potato instead of the buttered red potatoes we had ordered, and the red beans tasted as though they had come straight from a can, served over microwaved rice. I suppose you really can’t go back home, especially on weekends.
The gumbo had a watery, light brown texture and included a few overcooked shrimp along with some small fish pieces. It tasted as though it had been microwaved. The hush puppies were not warm enough to melt the butter, and they were tough and overdone, suggesting they had either been sitting under a warmer for too long or were prepared from frozen.
